Hi-

EDIT: Had to fix this -- I have the MDR-V600, not V6! Any cushion replacement recommendations for those?

Does anyone have any experience with these?

or would you recommend another solution? My headphone cushions are about gone.

TIA-

Susan,
I bought the same product from the same store. The working surface is soft cloth, not the original vinyl-like surface. They are fine for comfort. Did not (could not) A-B test for sound, but they still sound fine to me. I agree with the first few reviews I read in your link.

Hi Bill-

Ok, thanks. I think I'll prefer cloth anyway -- that vinyl gets pretty uncomfortable after awhile.

I assume the installation is pretty straightforward? Acc. to one of the reviews, they don't come with any instructions.

Thanks again!

EDIT: Actually, hold up! I'm at work and didn't have my headphones handy -- I have the MDR-V600, not the V6. Any replacement suggestions for those?

Susan,
You're welcome.
I don't recall details now (2006 seems so long ago), but the installation might have involved a bit more fiddling than I expected to get everything settled; seems like there should be something to dis/reassemble to make it easier, but there isn't. I remember without instructions, it was worrisome to just start ripping the old ones off, but I talked myself into it because the phones were otherwise disgustingly useless. If there are any tricks to it, you will have to be the first to discover them.

Hi-

Does anyone know of any replacements for the MDR-V600 cushions? Or if by chance the ones I linked to for the MDR-V6 will fit?

Thanks!

Susan,
FYI, looking up those headphones at B&H photo/video, they point to a cushion replacement (Garfield Headphone Softie) Edit: oops, never mind, these are covers for pads, not replacement pads.

Hi Bill & Brett-

Hmm... I'm of 2 minds at least about this. I'm thinking about getting the Garfield Softies and just putting them over my fast-deteriorating pads, or maybe just getting the MDR-V6 and maybe the Beyerdynamic pads for them as well. I'm not crazy about just replacing the MDR-V600 pads, because I'm not sure it's worth it. The "pleather" has never been all that comfortable for me, but then again I'm very used to the sound...

Maybe I should get the "Softies" for now. That would be the most cost-effective way to go. Does anyone have any experience with these? From the description, it sounds like it wouldn't really matter what shape the pads are in. Right!

Thanks!
