M-AUDIo ASIO DRIVER
Hi I just bought a M-AUDIO Fast track Pro , and having trouble when selecting ASIO drivers. I can only get sound to playback but will not record. I get the following message when I click on the ASIO panel tab in audio options The ASIO SAMPLE RATE IS NOT SUPPORTED BY ONE OF THE USB INTERFACES! PLEASE CHECK YOUR SYNC SETTINGS IN THE CONTROL PANEL . Can someone please tell me how to check my sync settings ? I would appreciate your help . Thanks MIKEYB

what is your sample rate set to? OPTIONS>AUDIO>GENERAL>SAMPLING RATE you should generally record at 44100 or 48000 - unless you have specific need to record at a higher sampling rate. also check to make sure your m-audio fast track is set to the same sampling rate. click on the ASIO button at the bottom of that pop up window and it will bring up the m-audio mixer panel. look on the hardware tab and make sure you do not have the sampling rate locked at something other than 44100 or 48000. in fact, I'd make sure it's NOT locked at all, but set it to the same rate as your project.

Hi Beagle , thanks for answering my request for help. My sampling rate was set at 44100 , when I click on the tab ASIO Button (PANEL) , thats when I get the message pop up and I can't get into the m-audio mixer panel ? also not sure if this is relevant but the AUDIO DRIVER BIT DEPTH is greyed out at 16 as well-should it be? Regards Mike

no it shouldn't be greyed out, but the issue lies with the m-audio software. if you can't get into the m-audio mixe panel then you have to resolve that before SHS will work correctly with your soundcard. which OS are you using? if vista, did you download the vista drivers from m-audio?

You probably installed the M-Audio device improperly. You don't mention your system specs. You probably need to uninstall the M-Audio FastTrack (including software & drivers) and reinstall it exactly as instructed in the manual. M-Audio devices can be very picky if not installed properly.

Hi my system is intel Quad CPU 2.4 GHz 3 Gb ram ASUS p5k Se motherboard XP proffesional ( tried VISTA hated it !) I have reinstalled M-aduio drivers at least 5 times and checked the regedit to make sure nothing in there each time- I am sure I have followed specifically the MAUDIo intructions on loading the drivers I checked to make sure after installin MADUIO , that I have sound , and can record using the windows media programs with no problem at all and also that I can see the MSAUDIO mixer in control panel , where it say it is connected and running at 48 sampling It is only when I run Home Sonar6 XL that I get the problems and it comes up with the message about the sample rate not supported and I can't get into the M- audio mixer panel from the asio button in the pop up window . It will all work ok if I run MME ---but I want ASIO ! , looking forward to your help I tried reinstalling SOANAR but no diff .

Ok, but did you download and install the latest m-audio drivers (for XP)? for the record - you keep saying that it works in other applications like WMP - but those are NOT running in ASIO driver mode - they're running in WDM or MME depending on the application. They do not use ASIO. reinstalling SHS won't solve the problem. the problem is going to be with the driver communication between SHS and the card. if you've installed the latest drivers from m-audio's website, and that still doesn't work, then try this: close SHS try opening the m-audio mixer panel make sure the settings for the sample rate are not locked; set them to 44.1kHz close the mixer panel open SHS change to ASIO driver mode close SHS restart SHS see if that works.

HI Beagle I have definately downloaded the latetst drivers , In the mixer panel , ( well I think it's the mixer panel your referring to ) I have no option to actually change the sampling rate , I can select the channels , ie which outputs and which inputs , I can chnage the sample depth from either 16 to 24 and the sampling rate is set at "48 maximum " which I can't alter , I am looking in the right place ? It also has the word "connected" in the top right hand corner and there is a tab to change the latency and then a tab called "about" thanks for all your help by the way Mike MIke
