Muz3um for Rapture/Rapture LE released
-
July 28, 08 12:01 PM
( #1 )
Hello all, after 6 months of work, Muz3um for Rapture is released. Muz3um is a collection of new presets for Cakewalk Rapture, built on waveforms from vintage synthesizers. It features also the use of convolution with impulse responses taken from amp sims, cabinets and lo-fi speakers, providing additional colors to the set. Programming these patches, the goal was to provide playable sounds, with particular attention to all that could make them as alive as possible, featuring extensive use of modulation and human interaction as well (modwheel, aftertouch, velocity...). I had a lot of fun creating this set. I hope you'll have the same fun using it. A few numbers: - 661 presets organized in categories: Basses, Keys, Leads, Pads, Sequences - 573 waveforms - 36 impulse responses Setup instructions: download the file - there are two different installers: one for XP/Vista and one for OSX - from PatchArena and run the setup, the installer will take care of the rest. A new Muz3um folder will appear in the browser. thanks to the following people: - all who provided the sample material (some of them even when this project was a collection for z3ta+): hollowsun.com, analoguesamples.com, john from ruskeys.net, chad from patcharena.com, antonio from autodafe.net, rory from rozzer.net - Tom Brockway (B Rock): you were the first one here to know about this project, you were the first one to give me encouragement and support. And thanks a lot for your endless list of tutorial and tricks (of course, heavily used here) - Paul Fogarty (aka Fog): for your incredibile attention to detail, patience and suggestions during the final phase of this project. Thanks man, you were a huge help for me - Chad Beckwith: for the installers (a real pro work) and your enthusiasm during all these months. - René Ceballos: we all know why, you were the one who made all this possible regards Francesco

after 6 months of work, Muz3um for Rapture is released.
Francesco: I saw this 'baby' from its infancy, and watched it grow & gain gain strength though its middle development. As you know, there was a point where I ended up working away from home much more than I was there, with limited access to my setup. Regrettably, that situation prevented me from getting more involved. So, while I missed a lot of the final stages, I've got to comment on how refined this package has become between the last look & now. Of course, now you decide to release it while I'm serving on jury duty. But, from what I've been able to preview, the final Muz3um for Rapture release has matured into one great product. So many 'professional' designers crank out standard fare, cater to the basics only, and approach synthesis design in one dimension. Your insistence from the beginning to "provide playable sounds, with particular attention to all that could make them as alive as possible" has really paid off. By the time an end user explores the extensive use of programmed modulations, it's going to seem like there are double the 661 presets here. Better yet, these modulations are folded into the programs in a most organic way. René's going to be thrilled about this, Francesco. I'm sure this is representative of what he had in mind for Rapture, ever since it hit the drawing board. Fantastic work.

Well, I've been going through these sounds for the past half hour or so and, wow - nice work! You definitely captured some vintage sounds here. Thanks again for all these great sounds and, especially, for making them available for free!
