Using FCB1010 as a midi controller beyond act

Hi folks,

I just bought a fcb1010 controller and finally understood how the programming with the windows editor works.
It s no problem to define it as an act controller ( start / stop / rec etc ) as I also have read here in some threads.

Of course it would be much nicer to use the dialog "keybindings" ( or so , I have the German version since I am from Austria )
For some reason it doesnt work when I assign - lets say - a certain note to for example "Undo <Ctrl> Z " to quickly undo a take.

I also tried it via midi keyboard but it still doesnt work. Anybody any idea what could be the reason ?

Thanx for help.

    Just an add:

I of course tried: ( in the key bindings dialogue )

    (x) Midi with and without the "Activate" option ( I understood it as "priority to keyboard ? )

with a certain "switch note" and the other option a certain controller. Can it btw be done w/o one of these two ? How can I just use any Sonar Menu Option with a fcb1010 "switchpress" ?

ok shortly, more ( if you need ) later

    1) Get the FCB1010 Midi Editor

    http://www.mtnsys.com/faq-fcb/Downloads/FCB1010PcEditorInstall.zip

    2) Connect MidiIn & Out fcb to your Midi Device ( AudioInterface, MidiInterface ), click "Midi" Button and make your settings ( what In, what Out )

    --------------

    3) If you understand what the fcb can do ( do you ? ) it s easy now :

3a) In the fcb editor I give a certain "note" to the pedals ( 1 - 10 ) AND a CC : so for example
    pedal 1: NO prgChanges, CC1 (x) No. 3 , Value 1, Note Value (x) , Value 40 ( = Midi E3 )
    pedal 2: NO prgChanges, CC1 (x) No. 3 , Value 1, Note Value (x) , Value 41 ( = Midi F3 )

    4) In Sonar go to "Keybindings"

Midi (x) (x) active ( or sth ? - I use the German version - ) and "use Controller " 3 ( <- this is the same as the CC1 No you told the fcb )

Then assign E3 to whatever funxction you like -> E3 - Undo - Assign
Same for F3 and so on ...

Viola , no ACT needed :D and it works quite nice !

Thanks for that anthe, I'll drag my FCB1010 outta the closet and try it as a vocal room controller.

I'm using SOnar Platinium on a 6 core Lynx Audio machine and a ton of vintage pre-amps/eq's/comps I build for fun and sometimes money, REDD.47/API/Neve I also use the UAD stuff, and also use a Macbook Logic 9 through Apogee...

    Welcome

of course you can use *any* note and any CC you like.

Another solution would be an outside midi to keyboard translator programm. There you could translate an incoming midi msg to any collection of keyboard a/o mouse events. So you could do - let s say - <stop>, < rewind> , < undo > with one footswitch...

Not sure where I have the link, but I am sure *that* I have it somewhere...

( Unfortunately Sonar does not have macros ... )
