Any ideas?

If you're using Sonar 8/x64, just forget about it. It just won't work (and the dll Presonus' tech support will email you won't work either.) I sold mine and got an Alphatrack.

Did you try checking if there is a more recent driver than the one you have?

    I have sonar 8 32 bit.

I have all the most recent updates for everything, but if you're saying that it's no use, I'll move onto the alpha track. I was trying both out...I just happened to have the faderport first.

    Thanks guys!

I don't know if it works with Sonar 8/32, but I'm pretty sure there's no way to make it work with Sonar 8 x64, 'cause I tried pretty much everything. At first I was a bit concerned with the Alphatrack's less impressive construction and fader, but then it sort of grew on me and I started appreciating the extra features you get compared to the Faderport, like the LCD screen, the three touch-sensitive multi-use pots and the equally touch-sensitive shuttle control. Overall, more useful than the Faderport.

It works great in XP32 and vista32. Ive used it in both and currently use it in XP32. Download all the drivers and follow the download instructions to the tea.

I have a Faderport and when I tried to install the drivers from PreSonus' website, I noticed that if you have Sonar installed on any drive other than C, it won't install the FaderPort.dll into the "shared surfaces" dir. Don't know if this your situation but I thought I'd share what I've found.

One of the main issues with the faderport is that you can't assign track view to any of the buttons. When your mixing, track view and console view are the two main views you want to use. After many emails to tech support they eventually agreed track view is not available in the drop down menu in sonar. Also the fader would sometimes go crazy and I would have to reload the drivers to get it to work. When I tried it on my 64 bit system it did not work at all.The Alphatrack worked on both my xp 32 bit and vista 64 bit.No problems at all.The alphatrack is the better machine and you will probably spend more time recording and less time waiting for drivers that work on all systems!Get the Alpha track. And no, I don't work for Alphatrack!

I'm thinking I've just completely wasted my money on the faderport.  Looks nice, but it just won't recognise it in Sonar 8 (32) under a W7 x64 machine.  Dirvers installed, dll registered, shows up in the MIDI devices etc.  But it's always bracketed out in the Controller Surfaces dialogue so I can't assign the ports.

    Rubbish.

Save up a few bucks if you can and get a BCF2000. It has 8 faders that make mixing more fun. The faders will play back any volume automation you have applied, which looks really cool. You can also switch between views. You hold down a function key on the BCF and you can tab through track view, console view, v-vocal, PRV, and others. You have control over channel strip funtions like input, output, pan and so on. Works great with Sonar 8, 8.5, and I got it to work with the X1 demo, I also have Studio One Artist and it works well with that. If you could find a good used one for 150.00 or less that could be a good option.
