SUSTAIN [Controller Not Seen]

Hey everyone.

Somewhat new to Cakewalk. I've been using MAGIX Musicmaker to mix my MIDI so this is sort of a completely new program to me.

I've been trying to add sustain to my MIDI input but I can't how. I went to the "Help" option and found the Adding Pedal affects, but the directions it gave me couldn't help. It told me to click on the "Draw" button, which I found, and then to select the "Pedal" button to add pedal affects such as sustain.

Can anyone tell me how to get the sustain added? Am I doing it the correct way? Is there another way that anybody prefers or recommends over the suggested way via "Help"?

Looking forward to get this track edited soon. Thanks people.

Josh

In staff view--alt 7), do you see the icon that looks like a fancy P (for pedal)? Click on it, then the draw tool. Then click underneath the bass clef and add a pedal wherever you want it. The corresponding 'up pedal' will be added as well. You can move either of them to wherever you want them.

I'm assuming this is what you're asking anyway...

Wow.... amazing bit of knowledge there Janet...! How is it that you knew that...no...don't answer that....

Joshie... it's way easier to have a midi keyboard with a sustain pedal connected...all that stuff is then done automatically..... not to mention way faster.

    Janet,
Thanks for that tid bit of information. That could actually be a really neat feature to know. I always do it the hard way. I add a midi cc.

Here's a link to many of the commonly used CC's FYI.

You're welcome. Since I use only midi 99% of the time, I use PRV and staff view extensively. I'm only beginning to use CC's, actually (11 mostly.)

Here's an image of the staff with a couple pedal events drawn in, the 'P's below the bass clef:
