Should this patch be applied if you have only the console? (EDIT: Yes) Will the installation program work correctly? (EDIT: Yes)

I see there are fixes listed for the console so it looks like the patch would be helpful but the installation instructions are clearly written for a user who has the complete VS-700.

Has anyone else with the console only tried installing the patch?

EDIT: I was hesitant but since I was anxious to get some of the Console fixes listed for the patch I went ahead and ran the "VStudioPatch.exe" program. Since the installation instructions are clearly written assuming that the user has a complete V-Studio and not just the VS-700C Console I was afraid I may end up with a corrupted installation. That didn't happen. After starting the program you are presented with a selection dialog box that lets you select only the options that pertain to the console. It would be nice if the Patch Release notes were updated to comfort those of us that have the Stand-alone console but I thought I would post this so that any other VS-700C owners would know that the Patch Installation works fine for those of us that bought only the VS-700C console.

    Thanks,
    Don

I don't think you can since it's a firmware update. Perhaps find the V700R registry file and see what's listed? I'm not sure how that would be listed in the files of the OS or in Cakewalk files or V700 files since it is something directed at the hardware of the V700R.

    Hi Everyone,

We've updated our support articles a bit to hopefully help prevent any future confusion between the SONAR VS-700 1.1.1 Update and the Fantom VS 1.10 Firmware Update.

    To clarify...

The SONAR V-Studio 700 1.1.1 update is mainly a software update for the VS-700 Control Surface Plug-in. This update also installs the ARX Editor for users with ARX Expansion cards and provides a few other fixes and enhancements. This update is only required for SONAR 8.0 users and is not necessary for SONAR 8.5 users. These fixes and enhancements were already rolled into SONAR 8.5. For more information, click here.

Determining whether or not this update has installed is super easy. Open a project in SONAR and create some audio tracks. On the VS-700C, hold down ALT and press SEL on one of your channel strips that is tied to an audio track. If this activates Channel Branch mode, then the update has installed. (The LCD on the VS-700C should say "Channel Branch" on the right when in this mode)

In regards to the Fantom VS, this is a firmware update for the Fantom VS hardware and is incidentally version 1.10 (not version 1.1.1). This is separate from the software update is recommended for everyone who owns a VS-700R. Obviously if you run the VS-700C as a stand-alone device, you do not need this update as you do not have a Fantom VS. For more information, click here.

Determining if this update has installed successfully is a bit trickier so we have also added some instructions on how to find out the installed firmware version for your Fantom VS hardware. You can find these instructions here.

I hope this helps to clarify things and I apologize for any confusion you may have experienced with which updates were necessary.

Dude I did not know you were still out here - not changing the subject but I did not realize you were creating all your cool music on a V 700 C and big bad SONAR
