Sweetwater Creation Station and Sonar 7 Issues

Greetings...I've posted this also in the "Computer" forum so I hope that is ok...

I've just slapped down some big bucks on Sweetwater Creation Station Rack XT (their top of the line) and I am having major issues with Sonar's Cakewalk Fx plugins. I am running Sonar 7 Producer and whenever I try to load the Cakewalk Fx Reverb the entire computer locks up.

All the other Fx plugins work fine...just not the ones under "Cakewalk". Sweetwater tech has been trying to help me but to no avail thus far.

CSrackXT is a i7 quad core, 2.66Ghz system with 6GB of RAM...although with Vista 32 I can utilize 4 gigs. The Dell Dual Core 2.13ghz with Windows XP Media Centre Edition I replaced runs all the Fx plugins just fine including the Cakewalk fx. Currently I have to render an audio project out and send to this computer to add the effect I want.

A side note of interest....my laptop is running Vista Business and I loaded Sonar on this machine and the Cakewalk Fx plugins work just fine...so I'm tending to believe it has something to do with the CSrackXT.

I would appreciate any help in the matter.

Sincerely,
Richard

My first thought is uninstall Sonar completely and reinstall it paying attention to the install of the plugins. The CW plugins are as a rule very stable. I suspect a corrupt install of that plugin. Let us know if that works.

    Thanks for the suggestion John,

However I have performed several fresh installs of Sonar and even obtained a fresh CD from Cakewalk performed a fresh install of it and the issue still persists. This situation really has both Sonar tech and Sweetwater tech stumped.

I think the CSrackXT is custom configured! Did they actually have a hands-on look to see they configured it properly?

Just a rough guess.... it may be either a file in the service pack that's causing the issue or something not setup right in administrative services. Unfortunately too many variables makes it very difficult to resolve. When things cannot be resolved then the last resort is to reformat and reinstall the O/S (fresh install).

Hmm, this is the third or fourth recent post stating a problem with the CW DX plugs -- a bit too coincidental. Makes me wonder if there's some sort of incompatibility with one of the newer technologies (core i7, Vista, etc.)...

Well, no wonder I thought this sounded familiar... I responded to your earlier thread here:

That error message looks different. I could've sworn I read of a DX plug issue similar to yours... Will do some searching and post back if I find anything.

    Thanks Jon for the help...

Yes, I may have posted before regarding some form of issue...it's been an anwful 4-5 weeks trying to get a major project out. From inadequate RAM use to this bizarre issue of the Cakewalk FX not working on just this new computer. I've been mentally drained for a solution.

I've been able to limp along and get the project done but not without wasting 3x the amount of time it would have normaly taken me.

As far as this issue of the CSrackXT I'm about ready to box it up and send it back to Sweetwater...that's how frustrated I am.

But I've become appreciative of the help and thoroughness of this Cakewalk forum and I appreciate your insight.

    Richard
