Sound Center plugin can't be accessed 2

Followed thread started by orto77 on Sound Centre. I have the same problem, except that I cannot get it to scan for VSTi plugins - when I go to OPTIONS>GLOBAL etc and identify the plugin folders and all that but the Scan VST Folders button is greyed out. This, I hasten to add, is on an XP Home(SP3) Intel Atom netbook (Acer Aspire One) which seems to run every other feature of MC5 happily. I am aware it may be an underpowered processor (1.6GHz)/RAM (1Gb) issue and if in your expert opinions you feel that's the problem, then I'll shut up and stop bothering the forum...

Vista, Intel Quad Q8200@2.33Ghz, 4Gb RAM, MC5, Tascam US-122L, Tascam ASIO, on-board Realtec HD Audio.

Number 1 most important point...you are not "bothering" any one on this forum. You have a ligitimate problem/question, and it will be addressed by someone who has the program. I have mc/5 and I run it on xp, sp3. I can access sound center, no problem, so I am not sure why your problem is occuring, but I will check it out later today when I get to the studio computer. Hang in there, I usually don't get to the studio until late in the day, but someone else might get to this before I do. The weekend gets a little slower in here, but your post will stay towards the top, so it will be noticed.

not sure why that happens, but this should fix it:

    1) Close MUSIC CREATOR and any other applications which might be running.

    2) Hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard and double click on the MUSIC CREATOR icon on your desktop

    3) When asked if you would like to proceed with the personalization, please click on YES and wait until MUSIC CREATOR copies the files it needs to copy

    4) When MUSIC CREATOR starts up next, check whether the plugins are now available

Thanks guys. No joy with holding SHIFT - it goes through a personalization routine, but still the Scan VST Folders and Reset All VST Plug-ins buttons are greyed out and ther is no sign of Cakewalk Sound Centre in the Soft Synths flyout menu.

hmm - the only other suggestion I have would be to try a re-install. if that doesn't work, I'd contact cakewalk about it.

    here's how to contact them

Go to Tools/Plug-in Manager to scan.
I found that the Sound Center DLL wasn't in the default directory and had to add C:\Program Files\Vstplugins\Cakewalk Sound Center to the paths.

    Hi Martin,

If you go to the main page of Music Creator, there is a box to "Post a new thread".  It is on the left hand side between the two orange title bars "[something] Navigation and "Music Creator".

Here's a link.  Music Creator Home page

    Hope this helps.

I have never used Music Creator 5 (or any other version) and when I load the software a dialogue box appears stating that my AmplitubeXGear plug-ins are missing or improperly installed. I've reinstalled the music creator 3 times and don't know what to do. Please help! I am ready to launch my 'puter out the window!

Honest Abe.... you should start a new thread for a new topic. This one is almost a year old.

But... here's the problem.  MC5 says the plug is missing because the project you are trying to open .... did someone else create it and send it to you?...... had that plug in it to start with.

You can run the project with out it.... BUT..... all you have to do is...

    1. Be sure Amplitude is actually installed on the computer.
    2. If it is, you will need to register it to use it live as opposed to demo mode.
    3. Go into MC5  Tools>Options>Plugin Manager  and be sure you add the Amplitude file to the scan list.
    4. Rescan the plugs and if you watch carefully, you should see Amplitude.dll (or something close) pop up in the scanned DLL list.
    5. It should now load and run properly.

    let us know.

edit: when you installed it...from a disk or download.... you should always let the files install themselves where they want to install.  On my last install of MC5.... just a few weeks ago on my new DAW.... I let them default and when it was done.... everything was exactly where it needed to be. If you choose a custom install.... nothing wrong with that, because I also choose custom installs on many of my music apps..... understand that NOW... you need to tell MC5 where to find the plug or FX...... if not, it doesn't know where to look, and it gives the "missing plug in" message. I get those missing plug in messages especially when I work on a file someone else sends me, where we don't have the same synths or FX. I just install my synths and FX ...save the project and the problem goes away.

    I don't quite think that's it Greg....

However... way back before Sonar 1, there was a complete line of CAKEWALK products including a PRO DELUXE version...I had CWPD8....

If that is what the poster is referring to, it won't work... but there is a lot about that post that doesn't add up. Sound Center didn't exist in that series...
