I am having trouble getting video to import into Sonar PE 8.3.1.  It does not work with any file type.  Files all work in any of the video players.  Runnig on a PC with Vista x64.  I keep getting the error message "Unable to import video - Unrecognized file format or invalid file. No combination of intermediate filters could be found to make the connection."  I am working with .mpg files but I have tried .avi files and they don't work either.  Any suggestions?

Are you using the 64 bit version of Sonar? If so, that's probably the problem. If you're all 64 bit, then all your video codecs need to have 64 bit versions as well.

Sounds good!  Any suggestions on a software that would get the job done?

Well, forget about QuickTime movie formats as well as MPEG-2.  Those won't work in the 64 bit version of Sonar because there are no 64 bit codecs for these available yet.  But .avi should work, not sure why this is not importing for you.  Maybe try analyzing the file using G-Spot.  This free application will tell you if you have the required codecs installed on your system as well as information about the video file you're using.  Don't worry, it doesn't even need installing and it can be completely removed by just deleting it.  You get get G-Spot here:
