There's per channel EQ correct?
How about compression?

Yes there is EQ and Compression on each channel - I have had to use it on Voice, Violins and Violas, Saxaphone and I would have to say it is pristine...

Some clarification might be required here. I assume because you are in the V Studio thread you are looking at or using one now.

Each channel of Sonar (Console View)  has a bult in equalizer right near the top of the channel strips. This is handy because often a lot of important eq duties can be handled by this channel EQ and that is great. Down lower where you insert plugins you may install another EQ if you feel like it and you might use that for more detailed or specialist type of EQ on that track.

But with compressors there are no built in channel compressors. They need to be inserted as required in each channel in the normal plugin area. But there are plenty to choose from to perform those duties standard in Sonar and if you have any other third party compressors installed then you may use those as well.

Too bad.  I'm looking at buying at the end of my season.

I was really hoping to have that in the preamp or mixer so as to keep that load from dragging things down.

First Paula Abdul leaves now this..............................

Steve I should mention that if you buy the complete V Studio system with the VS700R interface then there are 8 very high quality mic pres and there are 8 built in compressors in the actual audio interface. I was only referring to Sonar software not the actual VS 700R interface. Yes the 8 compressors are in there and they can be set for compression or limiting to keep an eye on things on any signals that are coming in through the VS700R. You can also switch phantom power on and off, reverse the phase of any of the channels and also remove low end (eg High Pass Filter) This is all done by remote control from Sonar or a separate stand alone program if you dont want to boot Sonar up at all.

Excellent.
I've been using Sonar for many years though until recently my Roland VS 2480 was the heart of my recording system.
I'm just doing some pre sale research on the entire VS 700 system.
There are some features important to that decision.
Cheers
