Mackie interface owners...Centrance drivers for XP

I just wanted to give a big thumbs up reccomendation.

If you are running XP, and are on an interface that doesn't have good support or drivers, the Centrance ideal driver is worth the $40 they charge.

My round-trip latency is lower than in ever has been...and it's completely stable. I'm not in fron't of the computer to give an exact number, but the round trip latency is under 5ms now. For the synths, plugs and tracks I'm using it's simply incredible compared to the factory driver.

They do many others besides Mackie...but this is fantastic for the 400f users since they use the same driver as my satellite.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'm a little frustrated with the driver support for my 400f.  I have to crank the latency up quite high any time the CPU usage gets to around 60%.  I've even considered trying to sell the 400f and get something from RME just to be done with it.  I'd like to eventually build a new system on Windows 7 x64 too, so that's another road I'll have to cross at some point.

Do a search on the driver. After I found out the 400F had the same architecture as my satellite I did my searches on the 400F, the Centrance driver came up pretty often.

To be honest, I was hoping it would help a little...but it is simply a miricle how well my system runs with it. There is only one con I have found so far. If I try to import a sample from CD I have to revert to the Mackie driver for 16bit/44.1 playback. Other than that it's golden.

Here's the list of supported devices:
Alesis: Multimix FireWire Apogee: Rosetta200 Behringer: FCA202 Echo: AudioFire8 ESI: QuataFire 610 Focusrite: Saffire M-Audio: Solo Mackie: D2, Onyx 400f, Onyx Satellite, Onyx 1220, 1620, 1640 Miglia: Harmony Audio Phonic: Helix Board 24 FireWire Presonus: FireBox, FirePod, Inspire1394 TAPCO: Link.FireWire4x6 TASCAM: DM3200 TC Electronic: PowerCore (can share the same FireWire bus)

Well, I picked it up, but haven't had good luck with it yet.  I've got an email in to their support so I'm hoping they'll take care of it soon.

The registration and installation went as expected, but all of my audio plays back at hyper-speed... like maybe double-time.  I tried several different latency settings, with the sampling rate locked at 44.1 or unlocked with it set to 44.1 in both the control panel and SONAR, but I couldn't get it to work right.

From what it says in the SONAR options it will be nice if they can help me figure out how to make it work... the round-trip latency shows much lower than I had, but until I can work out the issues I won't be able to see how that translates into real-world numbers.

Did you have the unit unplugged during the install?

Yeah I did.  And when it prompted me to plug it in it discovered just like expected and installed the driver.  I had another thought that maybe it had something to do with using the SPDIF input from my Proteus 2000, so I disconnected that and tried again, but I still had the same results.

I did see something on their forum where someone else had a similar issue and they sent them another version of the driver to fix it, so I'm hoping they can resolve it somehow.  Wish me luck.

Yeah, it's a drag waiting for sure. Good luck. I was a bit apprehensive to pop down my $40 on the driver, but am very glad I did.
