Sonar 6 LE versus Sonar 8.5 LE

Hi.  There's a $30 upgrade offer from Sonar 6LE to 8.5 LE.
Any feelings as to whether that's worth it or not?
Is 8.5LE more stable with Vista than 6.0?
What other benefits to you get by upgrading?

My inclination is to upgrade; I'm just hoping to get a bit more info from experienced users before doing so.

Thanks

Are you having stability issues with 6LE?
Sonar (any version)LE has historically only been available bundled with 3rd party hardware. It is a competent, but bare bones version. There may be some improvements in the audio engine, and versions based on Sonar6 were a bit CPU heavy.
If SLE serves your needs, it may be worth it, but personally, I would save up for the Studio or Producer edition.

    Hey Robert -

I had stability issues with Sonar 5 LE which came bundled with my USB Sampson CO1U microphone.  Sonar provided me with a Sonar 6 LE upgrade which helped a lot once I had it configured, though things still aren't quite perfect (main problem is when I stop recording, the actual amount recorded seems to go back by a somewhat random amount of seconds - I usually just continue recording for several seconds after I'm done to give myself a buffer, but sometimes it's not enough and that can be frustrating.

I'd love to get a more robust version of Cakewalk, and I've been hoping for a great deal to come along, because I just don't have the extra $200 plus to plunk down on some software that's not essential to what I'm working on.

That said, if Sonar 8.5 LE made it easier to add synths or effects or offered some features that 6.0 LE did not, I'd consider this as a temporary boost.  Wasn't sure if it would allow for a less costly upgrade path in the future, either - or, if it would kind of be tossing those $30 away if I plan to ever go up to Studio or Producer.

The offer goes through the 31st, so I'll stick around and try to get some more advice.

    Thanks

    Mosk,

They lowered the price to $9.99 for everyone now.  So thats a good deal.  Although if you think u are going to upgrade in the next 6 months, I'd say hang on.  If it's going to be longer than that-  I'd say for 10 bux, go for it.

Well it's 9.99€ to European customers, so a little bit more than 10 bucks, still that's still a good deal and a better one than the 10 quid it'll probably cost people in the UK :P

It is worth noting that I had SONAR 6 LE on a laptop where ASIO (using ASIO4ALL) wouldn't work (couldn't get it to save the selected option). This 8.5 upgrade works perfectly, so now I have ASIO using ASIO4ALL on my laptop working great.

For the 10 euros, I'm pretty happy.
