Dim Pro x64 shuts off audio
Running x64 version of Sonar in Windows 7, when I insert Dimension Pro x64 into a new track, as soon as the new track is created the audio engine shuts off. The green light goes gray and stays that way even if I delete that track. Closing and reopening the project after deleting the track sometimes revives the audio engine and sometimes causes Sonar to become unresponsive and I have to kill it. Even if I create a new clean "Blank (no tracks or buses)" project and try inserting Dim Pro x64 I get the same result. Happens every time. Inserting Dimension Pro x32 works as expected; no problems. All other Soft Synths work fine as well as audio plugins. Just Dim Pro x64 causes this. I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this. Not sure if this is a bug or something amiss with my setup. FWIW, I'm inserting by choosing: Insert->Soft Synth->Dimension Pro x64 and choosing "Simple Instrument Track" in the options.

Oops! Hold on, I just realized that I haven't applied the 8.5.1 patch yet since re-installing on Windows 7. I'll do that now and see if it fixes it...be right back...

Nope, that didn't fix it. Guess I'm still looking for an answer. Anyone else experiencing this? Damp Sneaker Oops! Hold on, I just realized that I haven't applied the 8.5.1 patch yet since re-installing on Windows 7. I'll do that now and see if it fixes it...be right back...

I had the same issue, never did resolve it. I found that the Dimpro with out the x64 suffix was also 64bit and works fine. Not sure what is going on.

I also have the same problem. I installed Sonar PE 8.5 from the purchased install disks. I did not try the other dim pro vsti as I was in a hurry and just used a diiferent soft synth. Will give the 32bit vsti a try and see if that works. regards, Rick

I have the same issue. Win 7 64 SONAR 8.5.1 64. It's the vst version of Dim Pro that causes this, not the actual DX version which works fine. Yiu should be able to see both on your plug-in menu. Find the one that works and just exclude the other ones.

Thanx Brian, I will try that tonight after work. FYI the 64 bit DXI version runs fine in WIn 7.

The same thing happened to me last night. After two hours and reinstall of Dimension Pro (8.5 version), activization and all, I found Trevorst's solution. Now, I am having some MIDI delay problems when recording, the first trouble I've had with Sonar in months. The latter I think is something I have done.

Hi Brian, I downloaded the 1.2 update and was getting ready to apply it but noticed that it is wanting to install in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\vstplugins folder. Is this the correct location for a 64bit vst? regards, Rick

The delay I encountered is only in Dimension Pro.

The delay is only in DP x64; 32 bit works fine.

It's working for me as well. I got rid of the vst version all together. Thanks everyone and thanks Cakewalk for these forums.

Regards Freddie Thanks Freddie. Just one more dumb question: Is the one circled in the screenshot below the DX version? That one does indeed work. I just wasn't sure it was the x64 version. And the ones below are the VSTs and I should uninstall them? Forgive my ignorance on this, but the plugins above the line are all DX and the ones below are VSTs?

I believe it is the one you have circled. That is where my DXi synth is, but I only installed the DXi version, 32 and 64 bit, respectively. Select it, open task manager, and if Bitbridge is running then it is 32 bit--if not, then its 64 bit. This works as long as you don't have any other 32 bit plugins running. I still have the delay, but I'll work around using another synth. Dim Pro x64 works properly in other sequences, and the audio engine is on!

No sign of Bitbridge with the version I had circled running by itself so it appears to be x64. I fired up the 32bit VST (which also works fine) to compare and a Bitbridge process appeared so all is clear now. I would however disagree with Freddie's assessment that it's not a bug having a dysfunctional component listed in a menu. Me, I'd call that a bug. (one that won't be annoying me any more; just zapped it with the plugin manager)
