I have the vstudio installed on vista64.  If i upgrade to windows 7 will I need to remove the vstudio drivers and then install the windows 7 drivers or would i just install the windows 7 drivers on top of the vista drivers after upgrading?

You'll  need to install the Win7 drivers after upgrading from Vista 64. In all honesty, I would consider doing a clean install of Windows7 if you are planning on using it instead of Vista.

As tempting as an upgrade can be (don't have to re-install everything), I find clean installs almost always work better than an upgraded OS. YYMV of course.

i am luckyly up an going and everrything seems stable. Clean install of W7

But i had to install Sonar 8.0 first then: -8.3.1 - 8.5 - 8.5.1 and soon 8.5.2 who seems like an major "patch" anf fixing a lot of needed issues.
I`ve also got my old XP system up and running as a "spare" When the new system is tested and " safe" im going to use the XP system as a soft synt computer, conncting both computers togehter with

really nice , but i think you got enough power with your beast , it can be cool for compatibilty issues !!

Just got my new daw , not impressed by seven , impressed by the processor , i have run an wprime 4 threads : 10 seconds

    old core 2 duo : 30 s

BUT dpc latency  new daw = 140 us !!

Old daw : 30us (max 50 us) so while i gain 3 time the speed in calculation , i loose 3 times the latency , conclusion : point zero !!

i am considering going to windows 7.... i would do a completely fresh load with a new drive.  do i really have to load 8 then 8.1 then 8.3 then 8.5?  i did the downloaded upgrade to 8.5 which i got for free cause of my v-studio.  I'm not sure weather or not i saved the downloaded zip.. if not how do i get it on to the new o/s?  would i have to download it again?

also... I'm running vista 64 ultimate.... is 7 that much better?  is it worth it to bother at all?  why is the sky blue?

and one final question... would i benefit greatly from using 10,000 rpm drive for my o/s and sonar or are those fast drives too unstable?
