Someone Hook me uP! MIDI Remote Assignment SAVE Test with 8.5

Hello,  I am still trying to map a vast array of soft synth parametres to a MIDI controller so that they work like actual HW synths in 'live' performance.

This is a bug with 8.0 - maybe the new owners of 8.5 can try this for me (will only take 10 seconds):

Insert a new synth track, open the synth rack, right click on the dead area under the synth and add new assignment control to some synth parameter (resonance, filter CO, etc...).  Now right click on that knob and hit Remote control, in the window hit learn, wiggle a knob on your controller so it maps.  Your knob should now move the value of that parameter... all of this I can get to work fine... it is this that doesnt:

Save and close Sonar, open back the project and see if the mapping still is retained.  Yes or No?

Any help is appreciated as this is the only fool-proof way to map my controller to ANY synth parameter.  As you can imaging doing this over everytime you open a new project is, well, not gonna happen...  I am more than welcome to any suggestions on alternatives to make MIDI assignments effectively that work on any synth.  Their ACT system is a great idea but implementation is junk and only works on a handful of items.

Maybe the CW folks can chime in on whether this bug has been fixed?  BTW, this is something that seems so simple to me.  I know many others have major issues in getting MIDI controllers linked up w/o first getting a major headache... all of this with Sonar being a highly capable MIDI-editing DAW.  Why can't we just right click a knob on a synth, wiggle a knob, and get on with life?!  Heck, even Reaper has managed to do this and it works on all of the softsynths - even all of the ones that come with Sonar... ahh, enough babbling...

Phil

If you are referring to the MIDI Learn function of the Cakewalk supplied soft synths my thread from last month may be of some help:

This is useful information, however, does this work for all/any synths?  I still can't seem to get it working for z3ta+...

The synth rack control assignment allows control over any parameter, which is what I want.  I suppose I will fiddle some more with this directory/folder issue to see if I can get at least my favorite synths linked up.  BTW, has CW recognized/fixed this issue in 8.5?

I do not generally work with the synth rack so I am a little unclear how you are working.  I tried your procedure but came up empty.  But, just adding the z3ta+1 synth via insert soft synth allows you to use the MIDI Learn feature, this works with other Cakewalk synths too.

Several of my other non-cakewalk synths have a similar feature as well.

Sorry that I can't offer any more help.

    Good luck.
