Is there any intitialization trick to installing one of these expansion boards? I've tried four times, I don't think I have any doubts about the card being seated correctly, but when I power on the 700R nothing happens.  I'm expecting to see something on my computer screen to the effect that the card is being installed or initialized.

I probably have a bad card (or bad 700R), but thought I'd ask here first.

Thanks.

When you open the Fantom editor there aren't any new sets of sounds?

Nope.  I think somebody mentioned it has it's own Vst and the manual seems to indicate that the board installs it's own software when recognized.

Are you just guessing or did you install a card yourself?

Just guessing.
I've seen stuff that makes a big splash when it installs and some things that don't.
Let us know, I was gonna get the drum card.

Hi madfloyd,

The physical installation of the ARX Expansion Board is pretty straightforward. Upon booting up the VS-700R, however, you will not receive any prompts or splash screens indicating that anything has changed.

It sounds as if you do not have the ARX Editor installed on your system. This editor installs with the VS-700 1.1.1 update or with the SONAR 8.5 Installation (by choosing "Advanced Installation").

If you haven't already done so, try installing the VS-700 1.1.1 update. Make sure to choose to install the ARX Editor in the installer. This can be found here: http://www.cakewalk.com/s...eader.aspx?ID=20090302

Afterwards, you should be able to use your ARX Expansion by going to Insert | Soft Synths | ARX.

Thanks, Ryan - this is very encouraging.  Sounds like the ARX manual is specific to the card being installed in the Fantom keyboard.

I'll try the update - and I'm about to install 8.5 soon as well.

Well I got the ARX editor up and running - yay!  Thanks for all the help.

Only problem now, is I can't figure out how to change patches.  No, I haven't read the manual yet, but I have to say that I spent about 15 minutes trying everything I could think of and didn't get anywhere. I'ts certainly not intutive.  I hope that's not a bad omen...  :-)

EDIT: Finally figured it out...  :-)
