DirectX Plugins in Sonar 8.5 64 bit?

I am running Win7 and Sonar 8.5 both 64 bit. I have loaded all of my VST soft synths, and all seem to work fine. The last 2 plugins are DirectX versions of Antares Microphone Modeler and Antares Kantos 1.0.

Is there a way to get these working with my setup in 64 bit? I have seen this VST wrapper, but wasn't sure if that's what I needed or if it's even possible to do. Anyone using this?

Any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Brent

32 bit DXi plugs should not work, though there is a wrapper made my the guy that makes jBridge (if i'm not mistaken) . . . though the DXi of Dimension Pro (which an x64 plug) does work

3.5 Ghz AMD 6-Core/16 gigs RAM, Roland Quad-Capture, Win 10, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Komplete 10, z3ta+, Z3TA+ 2, Rapture, Maschine 2.7 (MKI & Jam), Melodyne 4 Studio, Ozone 4, Jam Origin MIDI Guitar 2, Schecter Damien Elite, Fender Sonoran w/TronicalTune Plus installed, etc

I wonder why DXi is still not part of Sonar? Maybe I missing somthing...

DXi is indeed still part of Sonar x64... Dimension Pro is one example. However, a DX plugin that is written for x86 will not run with Sonar x64.... and there is no DX-bitbridge that I know of. So, you are probably out of luck for now if you have legacy DX plugins that are x86 (32-bit)

EDIT: If there is a DX wrapper that did bridging as well, that would be amazing -- wetdentist -- what is this wrapper of which you speak? Does Joao (the author of JBridge) have a DX wrapper/bridger too? That would be amazing!

    From the link:

    Hi all,

I decided to release these wrappers to public now, as freeware. Perhaps they are of use for someone .

    http://xlutop.com/buzz/zip/dxshell_v1.0.2b.zip

    last updated on 12/09/08

There are basically three vst plugins, dxshell.dll, dxishell.dll and mfxshell.dll, these vsts are non-standard vsts, they are so-called shell vsts like the vsts known from Waves. Unfortunately this means that only a few hosts are able to use these wrappers directly. Some hosts that are supporting shell vsts directly:

    Cubase SX,
    Tracktion,
    Reaper,
    Temper,
    Renoise,
    Buzz,
    Aodix,
    Vsthost

If you want to use them in other hosts you firstly have to convert them to "standard" vsts with a tool called shell2vst which is also bundled with this zipfile.

    Some infos about these wrappers:

    - vst 2.4 compatibility
    - therefore support for 32bit and 64bit processing
    - able to run dx plugins in 64bit processing mode if the plugin supports it
    - fully automatable parameters
    - multi-in/out plugins supported
    - the mfx wrapper is quite experimental right now, some mfx plugins will work but others not

Looks great, but it doesn't say if you can install a 32-bit DX on a 64-bit OS and then use this to wrap it, then bridge it with something like BitBridge. I think part of the problem will be installing a 32-bit DX plugin to a 64-bit OS. The question would be if you can install/register the old plugin on Win 7 x64... but IF you could get passed that step, then this DX/VST wrapper, plus BitBridge or JBridge might work. :)

i haven't actually tried the software yet, as i'm at the point where i'm trying to make sure all my projects DO NOT need it! (so far so good)

Yes you can install them but they will not work in Sonar 64.

They may work if you bridge the converted files ( at least Dreamstation DXi works great this way ).

To my knowledge there is no bitbridge for DX plugins.

If you use dxishell, the app runs when you do your VST scan, and the DXi's are picked up as VST's (if memory serves, they have a (0) at the end of the name. Then you can exclude the ones that are VSTs of DXi's that are also VSTs, like the NI plugs that come in both flavors (from previous Komplete packages, etc). I

Yes the dxis are scanned as vsts. I've used this app with my Waves stuff and had no problems in SONAR 8.5 on Win 7 64.

I suggest you wrapp it manual ----> not me way!
You get a new VST.dll file...work perfect to wrap all DX to new VST! Even Waves plugins.
