Idea too improve step sequencer flam!

I like the idea of a flam in the step sequencer but it is a little flawed as is. The second part of the flam strikes at the same velocity as the first. The help file describes a flam as "a quiet “grace” note that is added to the beginning of a louder “primary” note, resulting in a fuller sounding note when played almost simultaneously". In the step sequencer you adjust the flam's timing but not the velocity.

Here is picture of a live hi hat flam ( the red indicates the softer note added)

Here is a flam in the step sequencer and bounced to piano roll ( no decay)

This lack of decay makes the flam sound unnatural.

Here is what I propose, a velocity control for the flam note. This is to adjust how hard or soft the flam note strikes.

It might look something like this in the step sequencer and bounced to piano roll.

Here are two audio examples of the above illustrations. The one with extra velocity control should sound more natural. Tell me what you think.

Nice idea but try the grace note velocity lower than the primary. That's why it doesn't sound natural & your example with the primary note lower doesn't give you a flam sound.
Before or after doesn't matter, neither can be done with the step sequencer as is.  Tweaking each flam by hand after the fact can be bit cumbersome.

You have to admit the second audio example (the tweaked one) does sound more like a real drummer. There is a flam there it is just more subtle more natural sounding.

My way even looks more natural.
