How to use Chordspace with Sonar.

I would be most grateful if someone could tell me how to use Chordspace with Sonar.

Basically if anyone here is not familiar with Chordspace it is a Midi Chord generator. You have to link it to a soft synth say for example TTS-1 or any soft synth plug in.

You create a soft synth in your project and then you have to add Chordspace as a seperate instrument where it sends its midi information to the soft synth to play it. It basically generates chords for soft synths.

So you have two tracks. A track with a soft synth and a sepereate  track  underneath it with Chordspace that feeds it Midi information.

I am still using Sonar Producer 7 so I still have the three tracks that it uses. I find this confusing with the three tracks it creates.

I am not not sure what inputs and outputs to set with three tracks.

I believe that Sonar 8 now just generates one track. Thanks be to God.

Could anyone help me with this as I want to use Chordspace in Sonar PE 7

BTW. I plan to update to 8.5 very soon.

    Steve,

I just recently experimented with this utility the other day and finally got it working in Sonar 8.5.  I'm not sure if it will work in Sonar 7 but it should as my search for info lead me to an old thread back in 2005 I believe.  I thought I had bookmarked it but I can't find it now.

There is a Sonar specific version called ChordSpace DO.  Search for it and also a Sonar-ChordSpace template by Markleford Friedman.  I was able to get it working on my setup by making a few adjustments to Markleford's template (thanks BTW).

    Good luck.

    Hi Keebo and Rainmaker 1011.

Thanks for your reply to my question. I really appreciate it.

The information you gave me was very good.

I managed to get Chordspace working in Sonar PE 7 but was a bit disappointed that it didnt produce power fifth chords. I was also a little confused with the layout.

There was some symbols I did not understand. I dont mean sharp or flats. If you dont know them forget about music until you brush up but it wasnt that just a general way of navigating through Chordspace.

Still this has been a good learning experience as its introduced me to Chord generating Midi VSTIs

Marek thanks for telling me about Tonespace. I will be looking into it.

                                                                                                                         Cheers Steve
