ROLAND VS SONAR 8.5 Unable to Read/Write data ERROR

Everytime I try starting up the Roland VS in Sonar 8.5 I get the following error message.
"Unable to read/write data.
Choose-Help-Fantom VS Editor Manual, and refer to 7. If the display indicates "Unable to read/write data".

Everytime I go to the manual, I can't find where they are telling me to go to fix the problem.

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thank You

Do you own the VS-700? The Fantom VS is the VST editor for the Fantom in the VS-700R.

If you are trying to run the FantomVS in SONAR X64 you need to install the Fantom hotfix on our support page.

I am in 32 and this happens when I insert Fantom VS as a soft synth.

The reference to see 7 is unfindable and hasn't been answered. I had the same problem. It relates to not having the Fantom Editor Midi in/out setup correctly + not having the proper midi devices selected in controllers/surfaces. Add the VS 700 in the first slot if it isn't listed and insert the console in the in/out ports.
In Midi devices you need to uncheck any devices you are not using such as DV7. Since I don't know what you using or have on your PC the list will vary. You have to check the console, the Fantom, I beleive Midi I/O VS700.
You may also have inputs and outputs in your projects tracks that are incorrect. Input on the tracks should be the controller you are using, output should be to the Fantoms input. On the Fantom synth track, there are several inputs that will work depending on what you are doing but for now Omni will work. the ouputs on the fantom synth track should be the primary stereo output and of course the synth audio output tracks should be to your V700 master or other channels.

    Doc:

I had exactly the same problem, along with the dreaded "MIDI ports are not set up correctly" dialog box TWICE when any project loaded that used the Fantom as Craig mentions above.

I downloaded the 64-bit hotfix from Cakewalk and installed it: both problems are now corrected and no new ones have appeared.

I'm using Windows 7 64-bit on a quad core Intel machine.

Sonar was rejected 48K sampling rate says Delta Audiophile 2496 sound card does not support this course and the driver will automatically back 44.1K. When the older driver, Sonar does not complain about it, and to allow the project to run well. I do not know if this is a question or Sonar, M-Audio drivers, but we both know it.
