A 64bit OS question regarding Edirol VSC (from Sonar 5 and below, IIRC)

I do not have Vista64 or Win764 and would like to help this user out (Peter Gannon of PGMusic).  here's his question:

I have a question for SONAR users, who are also using a 64 bit version of Windows (Vista 64 or Windows 7/64).

On 64 bit Windows, does the Edirol Virtual Sound Canvas VSC (VST version) work in SONAR (32 or 64 bit)

thanks!

I tried to install it yesterday with no luck on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine. I am new to Sonar 8.5 as I only bought it yesterday.  But it did not work for me - where as previously I'd installed it with no problem on a old computer with Sonar LE.

Did you try installing it in "compatibility mode"? I haven't tried that one, but I've run older installs successfully that way. Try compatibility mode for Windows XP if you haven't already.
Been a while since I've installed VSC since TTS-1 is its next generation--I know, I thought that VSC was easier to use too, but its academic for me now since TTS-1 is 64-bit and I try to keep to as many plugs being 64-bit as I can so as not to need BitBridge for everything.
However...I don't remember VSC being a VST; I thought it was a DXI...if so, you can try DXiShell to wrap the DXi as a VST. This will also give you access to 32-bit only DXis like Dreamstation in 64-bit Sonar.
    Good luck!

Thanks guys.  I don't have any 64bit version of OS myself, I'm hoping that folks who have a 64bit OS and have an older version of cakewalk that included Edirol will try to run Edirol and let us know for certain if they can get it to work or not.

phoenix - that's a good point about DXiShell - that might work.

I think it will probably run in 64-bit Sonar as a wrapped VST via DXiShell; Timeworks EQ and CompresorX run, and they're from Sonar 2. I was super-careful installing them, though--set all setup programs to XP SP2 compatibility mode, including DX Utility which you have to run first with S2.
manfromengland, have you tried it this way?
