8.5.2 Export becoming disabled when Audio Metronome Engaged [SOLVED]

Problem: Export Audio & Bounce functions stop working if playback is started after opening the project.
I made smallest possible test project which launches the problem in my machine.   This test project was originally my template for new projects.

Here is link to the test project: Export Fail Test File

- Open project.
- Press Ctrl-A to select the whole project.
- Go to File/Export Audio. This should work now OK.
- Press Spacebar to start playback.
- Stop playback.
- Go to File/Export Audio.  Now in my machine ALL export functions except 'Track Template' are disabled. Additionally, all bouncing functions are disabled.  Otherwise Sonar works just fine.
- Close Sonar.
- Re-open project.
- Export works again but after playback it's disabled again.

Project works perfectly in 8.3.1.

Deleting AUD.INI does not heal problem.
Tweaking Audio settings does not affect in any way.
Deleting all tracks of the project does has no influence.

Can anybody confirm this? I'd like to know if this is project file or machine setup specific problem.
Thanks in advance!

Yes it did as you said. However I noticed that the Metronome was engaged. I turned it off and I could export after repeated plays.
No problem. But I would make a buss for your project as the master buss. That way you have more control and when you do export simply select it as the only buss to use.

You're incredible, John!  I could repeat your steps.
I deleted all buses of the test project when I was trying to locate the problem.

But why does Metronome disable Export and Bouncing functions?!

Maybe because it would be part of the mix if it didn't.  Look at is as a safe guard.

    I can't believe it's Safe Guard because

    - in the example project Audio Metronome was enabled only during recording; nothing would bleed in mix
    - Sonar has never routed Audio Metronome in exported files.
    - All clip bounce functions became disabled. Audio Metronome and for example bouncing a V-Vocal clip have no common audio route.

I created a new project and there Audio Metronome did not disturb export & bounce. Looks like this is some kind of project specific oddity.

I do think it is some sort of bug but not one that is a bad one.

    John,
I'm very thankful you found the cause.
This helps me a lot with my current projects.

I think I can understand. If everything is grayed out it kinda puts a stopper on things.  Glad I could help.

Since it is transport-related, maybe this is related to the recent 8.5 changes causing this other maddening behavior:

(All audio stops even when audio engine is on when track is rewound to very beginning of track)

Hopefully we are making progress nailing down the source of this..  I'll have to try the metronome trick the next time this greyed-out export/bounce problem invariably crops up.
