SONAR 5 and WINDOWS 7

My computer crashed and we had to get a new one with Windows 7.  I was using Sonar 5 in Windowx XP and was told if I purchased Windows 7 Professional the programs used in XP would be compatible.  We cannot get Sonar 5 working correctly in Windows 7.  Should we be able to??

Thanks for you help,
Janet

Who told you?? Don't Ever, Ever believe a sales person. He lied to you. Plain and simple. He has no idea what is Win7 compatible.
Sonar 5 doesnt support Win7. But that doesnt mean it wont work. but it doesnt mean it will work either....Sorry

It might be able to work with the XP compatibility thing, but I doubt it will work well.

Thanks for your replies, folks.  My hubby went to bed and he's the one working on this, so I will have him answer tomorrow.  He seems to have gotten a few things working, but it's probably like you said, "probably won't work well"  Wonder what the upgrade to 8.5 costs?  Thing is I haven't written music for a few years but definitely want to be able to when "the spirit moves again".  Be back tomorrow and thanks again!

go to the store section and select sonar 8.5 and follow thru with it and make sure you put in sonar 5, so it can give you a price.

My guess is Sonar 5 will work fine, however, what soundcard are you using? If its not the built-in soundchip, you need to get a Windows 7 compatible driver for the soundcard.
