Computer Spec info needed, Please Help!

I'm thinking about buying a V700 and soner producer next week but I'm unsure of what computer specs I will need to get the most out of the product. I will also be using plugins like superior drummer and metal foundary.

I'd just like to ask what you guys would recommend and also what you guys are using yourself at the moment.

At the moment my budget is about £700 but I will have money to upgrade the computer in the next couple of months.

I'm most worried about getting the system specs correct as I'm an ex pro-tools user and trying to get a system to work with pro-tools in the past has proven to be dificult.

All help is much appreciated.

Hi Scott, thanks for your reply!

I plan to do a self build could you please confirm that this confiquration below would be suitable and inform me of any chances that I may need to make!?

    i7 920
    Aces mother board
    12 gb ddr3 @ 133mhz
    500gb oz drive @7200 rpm
    1TB audio drive @ 7200 rpm
1gb agi 4350 HD graphics card

Thanks for all help and any feedback from all.

I'm worried about buying the wrong thing and that it won't work properly with Sonar 8.5 producer as it's been protools systems I've built in the past and I know they will only run with certain system specs! Can anyone tell me if this is the same with Sonar or will Sonar run in pretty much any fast system? I've heard it will but would rather confirm this!!

I just placed my order for the V Studio 700 yesterday and have the same concerns. Are there any motherboard or usb chipsets that have shown themselves to be problematic, or others that are a sure bet?

Sonar will run very sweetly on an i7 rig... doesn't take much at all to have her sailing beautifully. Personally I haven't had pc hardware issues over the years with Sonar but that is a result of picking good hardware and understanding what you are trying to achieve. Sonar just drops in and works if you build a good home.

The V Studio (console here) is incredibly stable as well and just hangs off my mobo usb port. No fuss. Firewire into mobo TI chipset and the only issue I really get is due to the dud Windows 7 64 bit legacy driver which plays up some times. Easy to sort without a reboot but with the V Studio package you should have no drama at all really.

    Happy building... and playing.

    ASUS H270, i7-7700, JLM BA & 1290, LA2A Opto4, loads of guff.
