PRV Mode question
Ok, I haven't used cakewalk in many, many years, and I just re-installed a copy on my windows 7 box. I noticed something I never saw before. PRV Mode, And that's neat and all, but I am thinking to myself, what the heck is this crap? tableware for a piano? How about letting me see the sheet music in it's normal treble cleff? Is there an option to see the sheet music instead of this weird tabulator thing from this view? I wish it was a 3 way button, Normal Mode, PRV Mode, and Sheet Music Mode.

Darn typos, I meant tablature, not tableware. I think the spellchecker changed that for me.

I liked "tableware" actually. What you're seeing there is the smaller Piano Roll View which is available in the Track View, for those who find it useful. The larger main Piano Roll View is still available, and really is The place where MIDI editing is happening in Sonar. Staff View is what you want--and that's available too. Enable Tabs, under View, so you can have tabs to jump back and forth between Staff and the real PRV. Keep this track thing turned off if you don't care for it--which is what I do since I don't find it useful. Randy B.

File077, What version of SONAR are you using? I can't reproduce anything like the screenshot you provided (even with In-Line PRV)...

You can also assign Keybindings or use the default keyboard shortcuts to switch views (which, IMO, is a much more efficient method than using the tabbed views)...

Papa, I think his picture looks unfamiliar because he's used some screen-shot doo-dad which has zoomed in the view for the shot, and that's superimposed on what's actually on the Sonar screen. Tabs or key short cuts, as per preference. What I like about Tabs is I usually have my screen divided up so I can see tracks simultaneously with PRV or whatever screen I'm working on. Let's see if File comes back happy now or not. Randy B.

Ok, so it is called "in-line" PRV. Is there an option to enable an "in-line staff" view? Just curious. While I have your attention, something really annoying, anytime I copy part of a track, or cut it, it always pasts in a new track, I can't seem to get any clips to past in the current track. Though I might nee to open a separate topic for that.

File077 Sonar Producer 8.0.2.319 Lol--OK. But we've answered your question now, right? You don't have to see the small Track View PRV. Just don't click that piano icon. Staff View which you're asking for is still available. Randy B.

File077 Ok, then yes you've answered that question. Thank you all for the speedy response. Cool. Some people like having the PRV available right there in the Track View, hence the feature, but the full PRV is where I spread out and work. Tabbed view--Staff View tabbed and instantly available too without having to have only one view available at a time. Randy B.
