Delta Audiophile 2496 ASIO drivers?

I'm running Sonar 8.5 Producer and can't get ASIO drivers to work for my Audiophile 2496.

Anyone else using an Audiophile 2496 with Windows XP (32 bit) SP3?  Any problems?  Suggestions?

Dave

There really isn't any difference as far as those drivers are concerned than SP2. Does it work with other apps?

It works with WDM but it's flaky.  The CPU is often running at a solid 100%, even on 2 simple audio tracks.  The same tracks in Sonar 7 are fine (WDM).

I'm using the latest drivers from M-Audio, and also tried downgrading to an earlier version, but still flaky.  Sometimes when I run the wave profiler it says that the only sample rate available is 44.1 (which is wrong of course).  Other times is says everythin up to 192 is available.

you say your drivers are the latest from m-audio, are you certain of that?  there are different drivers for SP2 and SP3 on m-audio's website.

    SP2 uses version 5.10.00.5057v3
    SP3 uses version 6.0.2_5.10.0.5074

in the release notes for 6.0.2_5.10.0.5074 it says that this release fixes a problem for SP3.

go to the m-audio icon in your systray, double click on it, click on the ABOUT tab and see exactly which version you are running.

Seems the SP3 driver might not work with Sonar 8.

Ive been on SP3 for as long as it was out with Sonar 8. With No problems. So have thousands more used SP3 with sonar 8 with no problems. Look in another direction!

the driver works with Sonar 8 (it's the same driver I have with my delta 44), but he has sonar 8.5, so it might not work with 8.5.

I can't think of any reason why SP3 would need a different driver. SP3 is mostly security and the patches all one place. Any XP driver should work with it.

The SP3 driver works with Sonar 8 as I said.  I can't testify for Sonar 8.5 since I don't have it.

there is a different version for SP2 & SP3 on m-audio's website (as I've already said above).  check it for yourself if you don't believe me.

I don't understand what the problem is? Why the hostility?

The driver may or may not be the problem.

under: "Options/audio" There may be problems with the settings and that's why your having issues. What are your settings?

Your really not giving us any infomation to work with. Arguing about drivers is pointless.

Notation, the original DAW. Everything else is just rote. We are who we are and no more than another. Humans, you people are crazy.

if you are running a delta 24/96 with asio.. you cant run at 192..or 9600 even 4800, and it really is no big deal..only very sophisticated equipment knows what frequency you're at..

that's mostly incorrect.  the 24/96 will not operate at 192kHz - that is true for ASIO, WDM or MME driver modes because its top sampling rate is 96kHz; thus the "24/96"  but it will do 96kHz as well as 48kHz and even 88.2kHz in ASIO OR WDM driver mode.

regardless of any of this, the OP has yet to return to let us know more info about his settings and his driver version.  all of the rest of this is nonsense without his feedback.

I have tried several drivers, do a complete uninstall each time.  I've tried 5057, 5069, and 5074.  5069 and 5074 seem to work the same: no ASIO drivers, etc.

I uninstalled and reinstalled 5069 yesterday, and the CPU went down to reasonable figures, it seemed.  But today the CPU is back to 100%.  One of my projects is two audio tracks, no effects, and it idles at around 35 to 60%.  In Sonar version 7 this would have been 0 to 1%.

    My Specs:
    Motherboard: ASUS M2N-E
    CPU: Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5000+
    RAM: 4GB
    XP Home SP3
    Current driver: 5.10.0.5069

If I select ASIO, Sonar immediately tells me that my card is unavailable for ASIO drivers: "The following audio output drivers used by this project are not available."

I never owned Sonar 8.  I went from 7 to 8.5.  I checked and Vesion 7 still has low CPU.  But no ASIO drivers.  Not that that matters really - I'm getting 5 mS latency with WDM - just fine for my purposes.  It just all seems flakey.

DL and try the ASIO4all driver and see how that goes.

If it works, then there's some incompatibility between the M-audio driver and your system.   OTOH if you still have problems, then that suggests a general system configuration issue.

The fact that none of the drivers offers an ASIO option suggests that you may have a corrupted driver that's not getting uninstalled properly.  If you're comfortable with editing the registry, try deleting every mention of M-Audio, then reboot and update to the current driver.

Otherwise, I suspect your next step may have to be a clean uninstall/reinstall of Sonar.   Or, as a last resort, a complete reformat and reinstall of apps (Here's where a utility like Acronis True Image would've helped.  Alternatively you can try system restore, and go back to when you upgraded to 8.5 - only this time just do a uninstall/ new install of Sonar).

have you went into OPTIONS then Audio then drivers and check-marked the Asio4all or m-audio delta for your driver, exit and reopen the program?...anyway you should not be maxing out at 100% on your cpu with only two audio tracks.. something else is hogging your resources...

    some other things to check:
do you have a webcam?  sometimes webcam drivers will interfere with sonar and the audio drivers.
do you have a wireless network on this computer?  regardless of whether you're using it at the time you're using sonar or not, sometimes the wireless radio will interfere.
do you have antivirus on the computer?  not sure why it would cause problems with 8.5 and not 7, but it's something to check.
check your DPC latency.  again - not sure why this would be different between 7 and 8.5, but it's worth a look.

I'm running Sonar 8.5 Producer and can't get ASIO drivers to work for my Audiophile 2496.

Anyone else using an Audiophile 2496 with Windows XP (32 bit) SP3?  Any problems?  Suggestions?

Hi. I'm running SP8.53 using my 2496 on XP (SP3) using ASIO. Not sure exactly which driver version though but I think it's v6.x - I'm not in my studio at the moment so can't confirm...
