Hi people I am using Sonar 8.5.3 and can not import as mp3 files. I get as noise only. If bit rate is 0 unknown. I use the audio interface, Line6 UX1. I hope it can help me someone. Mfg Nomex

How about some more information, Nomex? Are you using File -> Import -> Audio? Are you sure the MP3 files are not corrupt, e.g. can be played by WMP? Where are you seeing the bit rate as zero? That could indicate VBR, or it could indicate a corrupt file. What does Windows say the bit rate is?

Go to Options-Audio-Drivers and make sure the UX1 is set as the input and output. Deselect any other soundcards.

Whats your import properties set at in sonar. Options/Global/Audio data Do you have a better version to import into sonar. 128 bitrate Mp3 is a horrible quality to be working with

Ahh, Your import settings are set to original in options > global > audio data So change that to 32 and you should be alright I also noticed you need to go into options > audio > advanced and change your full chase lock to trigger & freewheel Everything else, from what i can interpret, look good. Just do those 2 things and you'll be ok bro Cj

Sonar doesn't come with a mp3 encoder, you either have to buy the encoder from the web site, or here's a link to another thread http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2061561, i dont think sonar not having an mp3 encoder is causing problems, but like stated above, if you have tried to convert it to a 32 bit waves loading it, and you still get the same "0 bit", then check that link out, download LAME mpe encoder and configure it for sonar

Are you able to get the wave file and not use the mp3. MP3 are inferior to wave files Try converting your mp3 to a wave file before importing it to sonar. You may be missing a codec or something in your pc. or the mp3 is whacked. There are many free mp3 to wave converter programs on the net Cj

You can do that, but you can get the LAME encoder for free. I have instructions on my Cakewalk FAQ on how to set it up to work with Sonar. That is only going to allow you to export audio to an MP3. It won't help with your import problem.

If I understand correctly. The http://www.store.cakewalk...ductid=10-CWMA1.00-10E is not responsible for the import problem. There is only one export plugin? What use to me if I'm not so lame can import? I will not export and import but there must be a solution.

Folks, we're talking about importing data, for which encoders and sound card settings are not relevant. We're transferring and translating data from the file system, something that can be done even with no sound card in the computer. The problem, I'm guessing, is with source file itself. Nomex, if you'd like to send me a copy of that MP3 I'd be curious to have a look at it. PM me if you'd care to do that.
