So it looks like I get to be the first to ask the question that I'm sure many of us are curious about.

Will our VS-700 hardware be SONAR X1-ready on release date or will we need to wait for a special update release?

I was thinking the same thing earlyer aswell.

My thought was perhaps the firmwere update has done something to make it future proof for the x1 update ?

The screen print is showing the VS-100 on it so I guess thats a plus :)

I dont know much about this kind of thing so this is just my very un educated guess :P

Has any one found any screen prints yet of the track view the console view ? I would very much like to see the prv and see how it looks for editing with.

If any one finds any could they send them my way

Thanks

Wow... just saw the video.... what an incredible step ahead!  8.5 was amazing but the workflow on the x1 look just unbelivable...

That make me think how the console will be able to match the incredible speed that can be achieved with the mouse on the X1... inserting plugins, navigating contents and most of all... editing...

Anyway I believe Cakewalk have the will to create a matched console plugin that will be as amazing.  They are smart programmers, nobody can tell otherwise.

Let's hope they have some surprises for us!

About 5:18 into the video on the overview page shows VS-700 drivers so hopefully everything required will be available to us.  It does look exciting!

X1 is the much awaited and serious departure from what we've known Sonar to be for a long time... V-Studio is in essence a control surface and IO box. I see full integration coming but revised workflow once again purely based on the incredible looking changes and features that X1 will bring.

Very keen to get X1...

X1 looks nice. I'm sure it works with the VS 700 system. Why would they make a version that didn't? Tryed to pre-order it. I will order it as soon as it's available. There are some nice new features there.

Re:SONAR X1 and V-Studio hardware? 2010/11/02 17:14:25
SONAR X1 basically works with the VS-700C just like 8.5 does. However, we've made some significant changes in X1, many of which potentially change SONAR's interaction with the VS-700C.

For example, with all of our new Shortcuts, buttons on the access panel probably won't be doing what they are supposed to do. And of course there's the ProChannel, which obviously we'll need to tie into the VS-700C's Channel Strip controls.

So what we're going to do is release an updated Control Surface plugin for the VS-700C roughly two to three months after X1 ships. That means you guys should see it sometime around February.

We know it's kind of a bummer to have to wait a few months to get your console rockin' with X1, but logistically we've got to use all of our resources to make X1 the best it can be for whiten it ships.

Once that's done we can reassemble our special ops control surface coding squad and get to hooking you guys up.

Hope that helps.

Oh, I should mention that the audio drivers will not need updating at all. X1 still uses ASIO, WDM, etc. just like 8.5, so you can still use the VS-700's audio driver. It's just the control surface support that we'll be updating.

Basic stuff like the Transport, Faders, X-Ray, Channel Strip controls, etc. will still work fine in X1, but some of the other things like the Access Panel and various buttons might behave wonky until we update the control surface plugin.

Thanks for keeping us all in the know :)

I know I can wait a few extra months for the plugin as we all know anything by cake walk is worth the wait

Yeah shure there's things that will have to change obviously, will there be any sticker availible to indicate the new assignements on the console?

This will rock for shure!

I agree with you Dyonight
I cant wait for X1!!!! I am sure I can wait an extra couple of months for the plugin to come out as I am sure we would all rather have a full working version than one thats not up to the job

Good job to Roland/ cakewalk this is all really exciting stuff

I also hope there is some canges to the prv I just cant get in to it for some reason :S

For the PRV the new Smart Tool has all the functions in one tool, so there's not much need to switch around tools. And we now have Timeline Zoom which makes zooming in on a specific section really fast and easy. Oh wait, I don't think we've mentioned that one yet.
Re:SONAR X1 and V-Studio hardware? 2010/11/02 19:37:32
As for stickers, I'm not sure what our plans our but I would lean towards probably not, but I could be wrong.

Let's take the Access Panel, for example. I think what's going to happen is that we'll re-wire those buttons to do the same things they've always done, although we might throw in a surprise or two.

Once X1 is closer to release and all of the changes to the Shortcuts are implemented I'll try to give you guys the skinny on what's still working between the VS-700C and X1, and what you can expect not to work until we release the Control Surface plugin update.

Hi Grent.

What is wrong with the instrument track problem ?

You can't add audio FX via the console, no working led-meters.
There are more problems (which occur independent from the v700c, e.g. when duplicating an instrument track and then deleting the original), what always tells me, instrument tracks are flawed.

I am not sure If my led meeters on the instrument track works I know they work on everything else

I have noticed like you say though if you duplicate a track then delete the original then it will delete them both if thats what you meen ?

Re:SONAR X1 and V-Studio hardware? 2010/11/13 06:32:13
Yeah, another thing: You can't bounce instrument-tracks alone, because you need to select an audio track ...
Whenever I want to bounce an instrument track I have to select a silent audio track ...

So, as you can see, there is something wrong with instrument tracks (also) counting as audio tracks.

So I just read up on what Seth mentioned above as the Timeline Zoom.  Really hope that when the driver comes out, it's tied to the shuttle control.  That would make navigation so much more easier than it is now in 8.5.
