Can't install Dimension Pro additional content
Sonar Producer X1 installed just fine. I already had Dimension Pro 1.2 installed on my computer, so I figured I would update to 1.5 by running the setup that came with X1. When I tried to install, the installer said it found version 1.2 on my computer and that I needed to update from the download on the Cakewalk website rather running the X1 installer. Downloaded the update and updated to 1.5 just fine. I was able to run 1.5 and verify that it works, has my registration number (the old one) in the product screen, etc. Now I'm trying to install the Producer_Additional_Content. I get a message saying: "A valid Dimension Pro installation has not been detected. Please install Dimension Pro before running this Setup. Sonar X1 Producer DVD4 will not be installed." I tried running the dimension Pro installer that came with X1 again (even though it was clear I had successfully updated my prior version of Dimension Pro from the website update download). This time the Dimension Pro 1.5 installation worked, without saying that it detected that 1.5 was already installed on my compuer. Agian was able to run Dimension Pro 1.5 with no problem. Tried to run the "additional content" again and got the same message as before: "A valid Dimension Pro installation has not been detected. Please install Dimension Pro before running this Setup. Sonar X1 Producer DVD4 will not be installed." Any suggestions?

Yes I encountered the same issue. Let's hope that Cakewalk will help us resolve it soon!

Me too yet I am running DP 1.5 as a standalone right now. Meanwhile I moved all the downloaded files from all over my desktop into a single folder and SX1 just will not start. Are the original files required to be where they were when installed? Windows 7 32 It was running well and I managed to create a 'song' and save it. So it is installed. After a restart SX1 is again running. DP is running at version 1.5

OK guys I found a solution in another thread which was posted by a user, and it worked like a charm. The issue is that the Sonar X1 Additional Content installation routine is looking for a serial number for Dimension Pro 1.5 that comes with Sonar X1, and my guess is that we all still had the serial number for DimPro that was with Sonar 8.5 - at least I did. So the serial needs to be updated in order for the additional content installation to see the "valid" DimPro present, or it won't install. Open regedit, navigate to the following keys, and change any references to your existing DimPro serial to the new serial for DimPro that came with Sonar X1: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Cakewalk Music Software/dp/ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Cakewalk Music Software/Dimension Pro HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Cakewalk Music Software/dp After closing the registry editor, you should find that the X1 additional content installs just fine. Hope that helps! All the best.

Yikes -- too late. I've nuked my previous installation with my dxi version, which I had used in quite a few projects. I wonder if I could reinstall just the dxi from the Sonar 8 installation disc?? And if so, use the old serial number / registration code for the dxi installation? Or would that really screw things up?

I would imagine you could do that - you should be able to run two different versions of DimPro simultaneously, with two different serial numbers. Especially if one is DXi and one is VST, they should run as completely separate plugins and coexist happily. The X1 additional content installation is looking for DimPro 1.5 with the serial that came with X1, so you may want to start by reinstalling and registering the previous DXi version, then install v1.5, load that one and check your serial - if it needs to be changed, you can do the registry edit. Hope it works for you!

Good to know there is a fix. I'm sure Cake will include this into a bug fix. These types of bugs are a pain but not that bad really as they should be an easy fix. I'm sure once they get all the kinks out, X1 will be rock solid and flying high.

Thanks! Worked like a charm. There were actually more than one instance of my DP sn, which you illustrated, but just wanted to clarify for others, and the exact path depends on where it was originally installed.

Didn't work for me. I could only find one of the references HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Wow6432Node/Cakewalk Music Software/dp and the serial number was correct. I even doublechecked to see if the "aditional content folder" is where regedit says it is. It is. Has anyone heard of any other fixes?

Hi. Just changed the serial number in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Cakewalk Music Software/dp/ key and it worked. Thanks for the tip.

I haven't ordered x1 yet but I have 8.5. Can't you(I) just uninstall the dim pro from 8.5 and do a new install from X1?

Part of the issue was preserving the older DX installation - assuming you've used it in previous projects. The current installer of Dim Pro uninstalls the DX version - it warns you that it will, but I don't recall it giving me the option of not doing so (uninstalling the DX version). The other part was that some users have uninstalled their previous version and still not been able to add the X! additional content.

As far as i know, don't delete any keys from the registry. What i did in my case, since i installed Dim Pro 1.2 and then installed the 1.5 update, i had to change the original serial for the new serial for Dim Pro 1.5 that Cakewalk sent with my Sonar X1 Upgrade. In order to install the Additional Content for Sonar X1 i, and others here, had to change the key, not delete it. But this workaround can pose another issue, i changed the key to the new one but the registration code is the same one used to register my Dim Pro 1.2.

I had a problem that I could install the content but could not register it. Solved it in the end by going to the Start Menu to launch Dimension Pro individually without starting Sonar first and running as Administrator. This let me register successfully without messing round with registry keys.

I had the DP installed with my Studio version, and encountered the installation problem described. I tried changing the registry info, but it still wouldn't work. I removed the previous version and installed the one I dloaded with X1Producer, updated with the Producer fix and registered DP. I got a mail with registering confirmation and reg code, but the DP doesn't show up in my list of registered products. When I try to run it as standalone (not as VST), I get prompted to register, and if I fill in the proper reg code I get denied cause the serial is already registered... Could be the missing entry that causes the problem. This is the third product I've bought from the Cakewalk store that doesn't show in my registration list.

Yup, this worked for me too. Despite the message saying "A valid Dimension Pro installation has not been detected", when I launched X1, version 1.5 was installed and working. After I had replaced the old serials with the new one, the Additional Content installed without a hitch. Thanks!
