Dim Pro addition content files

Friends,

Been a battle getting Dimension Pro installed, hacking registries with no luck and finally giving up on the Added Content. I was able to get a Frankenstein patchwork together going back to the Sonar 8 installation and build up. What a time burning mess.

Something I noticed though. Just delete this post if I’m missing it or if the issue was solved with Sonar 8.5, but first time I tried to run the added content, it went part way before crashing. Previous Dim Pro 1.5 came up as usual, but with new program entries for the Roland Vintage Sounds and dead links to the sfz files.

Dwcaldwell posted that the Vintage instruments and DSF Classic Keys are part of the additional content, and this makes sense, since these links were not there before trying to install additional content.

The mess of installing previous versions finally allowed installation of the 1.5 patch, but this writes an older stock programs.lst file, effectively ignoring anything else you have installed and no reference to the Vintage stuff or Classic Keys.

If anyone needs, I have the expanded programs.lst file (about 1.4 meg) I can upload. Has the program entries for the Roland instruments, Vintage keys, and for the couple free packs you can download from Digital Sound Factory. Do back up your programs.lst. Noted here that the file is in two places, with the programs in the DP directory but also in the documents and settings. The new file has to be at least in the documents and settings or Dim Pro won't recognize it

Before Additional Content bit the dust, it dumped the Roland sfz’s onto my computer but crashed before recognizing them. These are about 86 megs but can probably find somewhere to post them if needed. Check your documents and settings for the sfz samples with the multisamples. (folder is 99-Vintage Sound Library)

Viable option for those who can’t get the registry route to work then seems  to be to upgrade the program.lst file in Documents and settings (I’m running win xp sp3) and search to see if the additional content dumped the sfz files somewhere before it died (may also be in the documents and settings since it didn’t make it to my normal multisample folder). Download the free 1-3 expansion packs, install and the nightmare will be over...hopefully

Best,
John

I simply de-installed my Dim Pro. Then I installed the new one.

Not a single problem here.

Bapu,

You lucked out, or maybe I just didn't. Went the route of uninstalling DP from the control panel and the updating was stopped because the uninstalled program was still detected.

Ripped out registry entries, deleted the folders and still the error to update from the webpage because a previous version was still installed. Ran out of ideas as to where they could have hidden the thing.

Maybe I'm the only one with this problem, which is a good thing. Best advice then is from you, to just uninstall and reinstall. I did finally get everything working here, Dip Pro 1.5 with all libraries. Just took me a few dark roads to get there.

I installed the dpro that came with X1. Got ver. 1.5  I tried to install the Digital Sound Factory proteus pack and it doesn't see where it's located. I hit F5 and it doesn't see it. It does however see the sample packs. I tried to get a logical explanation from CW tech support but I didn't understand it at all.

Any suggs. would be greatly appreciated. Cheers ;)

anyone ever get a response/soution to this?..

was browsing the Rapture LE DSF freebie content and while the programs are there I discovered why it was free... the programs do not load the dead links to sfz content..

I too had difficulties when it cam to updating DIM Pro 1.2 to 1.5 so I left it for ages. Finally las tmonth I decided that I had paid good money for a program and was damned if I wasn't going to install it.

I used the uninstall Dimpro and all the add ons that came for free with it then went and did a registry search for all thing Dim Pro and dp related in cakewalk Music Software trees and then rebooted and did a fresh install including all the sounds.

Took a lot of time but it now works. There were updates to many of the samples that had problems in the earlier version so it was important to reinstall the sounds anyway. BTW I got discs with my X1 purchase which included the updated samples.

If you have 1.5 and all its sounds installed and DIM Pro can't find them make sure that the registry entry for dp points top the Multisamples folder location.

here's the registry location

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\dp     in that hive you'll find the Multisamples Folder key. Double click it to open a screen where you can enter the path to your Multisamples folder

Oh no! you're definitely not the only one with Dim Pro installation problems.

I'm still only running 1.2 on my main DAW, which runs both 8.5.3 and X1 - this, particular configuration is the one that causes all the problems to start with - at least on my system.

I've been down the same route as you - deleting 1.2 from Control Panel, ripping out Registry entries, moving/renaming dll's etc. At one point, when there was definitely a version still installed, all my projects containing Dim Pro got totally corrupted where a simple placeholder was used in place of the actual synth, and all the track numbering got royally screwed up.

So 1.5 is not an option.

On the laptop, I've only installed X1 and DP 1.5 comes as standard, and was  instantly recognised by X1.

However, installing the Additional Content disc has resulted in a shorter program list, and is missing a few at the bottom - Vintage Sound Library, Holloywood Edge, and a couple of others.

I'll sort this out once the X1C patch has been released & installed.

But I don't know what to do about my DAW. Again, this will have X1C installed so I'll not do anything until then.

If I could successfuly migrate 8.5.3 WIP projects to X1 then I'd uninstall both, then do a full clean install of X1, but that's not an option for me as X1 crashes - for me - on most 8.5.3 projects.

Ah Ha! Hey Jonesey!...I should have guessed. I've  installed X1d PE expanded and haven't moved any sounds yet. I want to get this worked out to install all the Dim Pro Vol 1-14 libraries that I own on my external drive(on ASUS G74sx laptop), plus the DP1.5 update, Zeta+2, Andy Johns kit for SD3, BFD ECO, GPO, plus Rapture and some libraries . AND I bought the IK Total Studio 3 Bundle!....SO as I read I am hoping that a lot of these issues are caused by going over older versions (my machine is new and so this is all first install, though I haven't moved any sounds from C drive to my ext drive). Since I've never had these VSTs nor any libraries before (nor a laptop), I want to get the picture and do it right ONCE if possible!
SO any help would bring me immediate RELIEF (not like I am going thru a hurricane ....just thinking too much!).
Do I need to create a library folder with a folder in it for each of the various companies libraries and one for each Volume of Dim Pro that I have? BEFORE I install anything. I'd like to be organized ..mentally and then folder-wise!
1. I suppose moving sounds already in C would be first. Then add to that (ie DimPro Volumes )
2. When I run DP 1.5 or Zeta+2 I suppose I will get to pick where the sounds go
3. IK TS3 bundle, GPO, (Andy Johns kit?too) after that ..
Really it is getting the mental picture of how to do this library on it's own drive, or rather how to do it so that Sonar finds the libraries!!!!
Help, if you can and thank you very much in advance! Michael
