Friends,
Been a battle getting Dimension Pro installed, hacking registries with no luck and finally giving up on the Added Content. I was able to get a Frankenstein patchwork together going back to the Sonar 8 installation and build up. What a time burning mess.
Something I noticed though. Just delete this post if I’m missing it or if the issue was solved with Sonar 8.5, but first time I tried to run the added content, it went part way before crashing. Previous Dim Pro 1.5 came up as usual, but with new program entries for the Roland Vintage Sounds and dead links to the sfz files.
Dwcaldwell posted that the Vintage instruments and DSF Classic Keys are part of the additional content, and this makes sense, since these links were not there before trying to install additional content.
The mess of installing previous versions finally allowed installation of the 1.5 patch, but this writes an older stock programs.lst file, effectively ignoring anything else you have installed and no reference to the Vintage stuff or Classic Keys.
If anyone needs, I have the expanded programs.lst file (about 1.4 meg) I can upload. Has the program entries for the Roland instruments, Vintage keys, and for the couple free packs you can download from Digital Sound Factory. Do back up your programs.lst. Noted here that the file is in two places, with the programs in the DP directory but also in the documents and settings. The new file has to be at least in the documents and settings or Dim Pro won't recognize it
Before Additional Content bit the dust, it dumped the Roland sfz’s onto my computer but crashed before recognizing them. These are about 86 megs but can probably find somewhere to post them if needed. Check your documents and settings for the sfz samples with the multisamples. (folder is 99-Vintage Sound Library)
Viable option for those who can’t get the registry route to work then seems to be to upgrade the program.lst file in Documents and settings (I’m running win xp sp3) and search to see if the additional content dumped the sfz files somewhere before it died (may also be in the documents and settings since it didn’t make it to my normal multisample folder). Download the free 1-3 expansion packs, install and the nightmare will be over...hopefully
Best,
John
