Using Hyperion plugin by xoxos in Sonar 7

I'm trying to use the Hyperion VSTi from xoxos.net, which is designed for generating MIDI sequences. From what I understand, you have to instantiate it as a softsynth on an audio track, but I don't know if you can access the MIDI output from the plugin in that scenario. Has anyone dealt with this plugin and gotten it to work in Sonar?

I fiddled around with it a bit. By inserting Hyperion as a soft synth, choosing First Synth Audio Output and Enable Midi Output, I was able to use it with a Midi track being Output to another soft synth (TTS-1).

First I inserted Hyperion as a soft synth, enabling First Synth Audio Out and Enable Midi Output.

Then I inserted the TTS-1 with First Synth Audio Out and Midi Source.

I set the INPUT of the Midi track to Hyperion. (Omni)

By arming the Midi track and enabling the Input Echo, I can hear what Hyperion is sending to the track as it records the Midi. I can only hear the Midi track PLAY on an empty track by setting a segment on the track to loop. The track plays fine after a clip has been recorded.

So Hyperion will only PLAY over a clip or a loop. I used the PRV to enter on note on the first beat of the first measure then grabbed and extended the clip to 20 measures. Hyperion will play fine anywhere in that clip but stops at measure 21. So it you want to preview Hyperion while previewing its Output you'll need to create a loop or a clip. But it records fine anywhere.

Excellent! This tells me exactly what I needed to know (I hadn't noticed the Enable MIDI Output option when inserting the synth). Thanks so much for the detailed response!

No problem and I'm glad I could help. I learned something, too.
