UAD2+Focusrite Saffire Pro 40+Windows7 x32+Sonar X1

Hi, please I just updated Windows from XP to Windows 7 32 bit. I am using Sonar 8.5 and now Sonar X1. My audio hardware is Focusrite Saffire Pro 40. Problem is, that when I open project in Sonar and load up whatever UAD plugin, the project doesnt start to play. Sonar give me Audio Dropout message. Same is with saved projects with UAD plugins. When I open it, there is Audio Dropout message in Sonar. When I remove UAD plugin from FX chain, everything working like a charm. I try every combination in UAD Meter configuration {LOCKLOAD On/off, Sonar Support On/OFF, etc....} Nothing help. I try to increase or decrease buffer of my Focusrite card, try everything in Sonar. Nothing help. In XP, everything working just fine with all of this hardware. There must be some glitch in Windows 7 why UAD doesnt work. Please help

My computer is Core2Duo HP DX7500 with 2GB RAM, 320GB HDD, ATI Radeon 4000 graphic card with 512 MB memory

Have got the latest Focusrite 2.2 drivers. A word of advice though, if you haven't, make sure you still have the installation files for version 2.0 drivers, just in case 2.2 doesn't work. Also in device manager, I am told "legacy" drivers should be selected

Of course I try to use legacy driver. This has nothing to do with focusrite I think. this is PCI and UAD 2 problem....

I have a Saffire Pro 40.  Are you using the "legacy" firewire driver in Win 7.  On the Saffire Pro 40 downloads the driver for Win 7 says to use the legacy firewire driver.  An incorrect driver can cause dropouts (along with the firewire chip).  They have instructions on how to set the legacy driver.

Having said that, I'm using the default Win 7 driver for my T.I. firewire chipset port and not having any problems.   I was using the legacy driver but Focusrite sent me a Beta driver, to test for a different problem, a while back that didn't require that.  I've since upgraded to the current driver but forgot to reset back to legacy and it's working OK.

Once again. My Focusrite working like a charm. I am searching for UAD 2 problem resolution. This is not Saffire problem.

I don't use Win7 32bit, but could it be an issue where trying a different PCI slot (if one is available) could help resolve the problem?  There may be a conflict with an IRQ being shared that is causing the problem.

    Just a thought.

Also, what version of the UAD software are you running?  I know that there were a few people with issues with the latest version of their software so you could try loading the previous version just to see if that might help.

I know that going back one version of the software will not let your Studer A800 work, but it would potentially help you see if it a UAD issue or a conflict with your audio card.

    Best of luck,
    Tom

So I try something that is on UA website. Complete uninstall from system {with help of Your Uninstaller}. Then remove UAD card and install drivers. Then install UAD card. Now its working in Sonar 8.5, but X1 have problems, dropouts...... So I stay with 8.5 for now...
