Possible Session Drummer 3 bug in X1

Load a Brush kit from the Analog drums.
Open up Step Sequencer and click #39 HndClp.

It's supposed to be a brush swirl hit but it loops on my system and sounds like white noise and never stops looping. I have to kill the sound engine to get it to stop. It's present in a couple of other kits as well.

I've confirmed on one other system.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Bub.

Tried it in 8.5.3 first. It does essentially the same thing there. I just triggered it from my controller, and it plays until the note off. But it doesn't sound like a looping brush swirl. It sounds like randomly modulated white noise, as you described. I know some drum synths use aftertouch to modulate the swirl rate. I wasn't using an aftertouch-capable keyboard, so I don't know whether SD3 and the SFZ files it uses allow for that.

I only see one brush kit (SmartLoops_GroovyKit_Brushes) under Acoustic in the SD3 Program Browser, and when I load it, and then click on the SS icon on SD3 to load the StepSequencer, I hear a brush type snare sound for #39 HndClp.

It doesn't loop, either. Are you auditioning the sample (HndClp) with SD3 in loop mode, your project in loop mode, or the StepSequencer in loop mode? If you mean you are hearing a white noise that loops, even though the transport is not playing back, or SD3 is not playing in loop mode, that's wierd. I don't know what can be causing that.

Perhaps, you somehow changed the default kit setup with a save of a SD3 program, and it messed up the kit?

Just saw Brundlefly's reply. I didn't use a midi controller to trigger the sample. I just mouse clicked the name HndClp in the SS, and also I clicked on certain steps in the HndClp row and then played back the project.

I didn't get any looping or white noise, though. I have no time to try this with a MIDI controller right now. I will check later.

I noticed it when I loaded up an old project I did in 8.5.3 into X1. Then to confirm I created a new project and just loaded Session Drummer 3. At first I thought maybe it was something corrupted in my old project.

I'll send in a bug report. So far brundlefly and one other person has confirmed it.

Thanks for checking Tom. I didn't use a midi controller either, I just clicked on it in the Step Sequencer.

thomasbarnesI didn't use a midi controller to trigger the sample. I just mouse clicked the name HndClp in the SS, and also I click on certain steps in the HndClp row and the played back the project. I didn't get any looping or white noise, though.

I just went back and tried it with a SS in 8.5.3. When played by individual step sequencer "cells", it starts and stops as it should. But when I clicked the row name to audition it, it looped continuously, and I could only stop it by cycling the transport or the audio engine. Same thing happened when I triggered it from the pad/icon in SD3's Mixer view.

I checked the samples for the kit, and there is a 10-second long sample named "Groovy Brush Snare Sweep Sustaining" (WAV in SD2, FLAC in SD3). I'm pretty sure that's what we're hearing. I dropped it into drop zone, and it has the same amplitude modulation pattern. When triggered from DZ, it played once (~10 seconds) and stopped. SD3 is definitely looping it when auditioning.

It plays continually on my PC whether I put a trigger in one of the cells or if I audition it by the name in the left column. I just submitted a bug report. Looks like that process may have changed, I didn't get a case number.

    Hey Bub,

I went and looked up your number.

A few things broke when we went to the new website, I believe this should be fixed today if it hasn't been already.

I connected my midi keyboard controller, and I'm just not able to reproduce this looping behavior on my end. I even loaded up that "Groovy Brush Snare Sweep Sustaining" sample in the snare slot of SD3 in SONAR 8.5. I loaded the SS from the SD3 GUI, mouse clicked on the snare name in SS to audition the "Groovy Brush Snare Sweep Sustaining" sample, and used my midi keyboard controller to trigger the snare, but I can't reproduce the looping matter. When I audition the instruments in the SS by clicking on the name, they just sound and stop as expected.

Apparently, something is going on, as three of you see the issue of white noise and/or continuous unintentional looping. I'm probably of no efficient help here in this thread, so I'll cya all around.
