Console Stopped Working V-700

V-Studio 700 with Sonar X1.  I had to turn off the I/O and console to run a SYSEX MIDI file into a Kurzweil unit--did not want to corrupt V-Studio or other components.  That's over and when I powered the IO and Console back up, the console now longer acts as a control surface.  I checked PREFERENCES in Sonar to validate V-700 is still listed as the control surface, but it does not control or respond to Sonar anymore.

Any ideas how to get it back?

I had the issue that the V700 was listed in the control surface area, but the in and out midi in the control surface area did not list V700 Console. I re-selected V-700 console, applied it, and restarted Sonar and it came up. It seems to take the Control Surface midi I/O out if you start Sonar without the audio interface.

Just got the new package myself and had a challenge of the same nature.
Under your options go to midi devices and reset the all VS except for the IO(VS-700) in both the Input and Output, Bring the Console (VS-700) to the top and click OK.
Next go to the Options Control Services and Add your VS-700 and it will add a -1 to the end.
Then select the In Port as Console (VS-700), do the same for the Out Port.
Click OK, exit the entire program and it should find itself when you come back in.
 
I have an Edirol PCR-500 that I had to redirect to the VS-700R as Midi In / Out and seperate it from the main computer as USB powered to an A/C adapter to allow the VS-700C to keep as the master control surface.
 
The best boot up sequence to keep the signals flowing is : Midi Keyboard, VS-700C, VS-700R and then open Sonar.  Good Luck My Friend.

If you use this turn on order you will not lose the V700 R & C. Turn on the V700R, turn on the V700C, boot the DAW-PC to the desk top. Then turn on any Midi Controllers-ie- keyboards, percussion controllers, etc. You must establish the V700R&C as your default-sound card-interface-controller when boooting the PC. If it's not there when windows boots, windows will grab another driver as the default. Whatever is active. Open Sonar after you have followed this turn on order. I have a A 800 Pro, a PCR 800 hooked up via USB, and a Handsonic 10 and GW7 workstation hooked up via a Midisport 4X4 router via USB and the Console remains the primary controller and both keyboards will work with the Console and Sonar without glitches. Transport, volume faders, pan, etc.
If you turn off the VS700 while Sonar and Windows is active you will lose the driver and windows will replace it which screws up your in/out midi ports and your track inputs/ouputs.

Thanks, guys.  All is well now, but definitely had a day of frustration.

By the way, I am starting to suspect a poltergeist:  Had numerous X1/V-Studio/Virtual Inst installation issues.  Then had a PC virus which required starting over.  Then a Guitar Rig 4 upgrade caused some grief.  Then this minor adventure.

Now, my Kurzweil rack unit (PC2R + Exp) died and a Yamaha synth (Tyros 2) is suddenly playing 1/32 note behind the beat.  I can tediously adjust/offset the Yamaha tracks by ear, but I was using some particular Kurzweil sounds on a number of tracks.

I truly am starting to suspect supernatural forces--especially since no one is more OCD or careful with equipment than me.  The Kurzweil, for example, has not moved out of the rack since I bought it new years ago.
 
Maybe an insane producer was brutally murdered on my lot after making a deal with the devil to get a hit record.  After all, songs like "Going to the Mall" by the School Gyrls don't make it without some kind of demonic influence.

Also, removing a device and plugging it back into a different USB port will cause things to shuffle in SONAR. All you have to do, though, is point the CS back to the proper ins and outs in SONAR. SP
