Kudos to the support team for a great experience today. Yesterday I opened a new case involving one of those pesky "you have too many plug-ins" messages everytime I started Sonar Expanded. The strange thing was that I had changed NOTHING between X1C and Enhanced. I've been sending messages back and forth with them today and they were timely, professional and helpful. I feel confident they'll get this worked out although I am a bit confused about how I have over 600 plug-ins as that doesn't sound right. Either way I'm feeling that support was great an we'll see a fix at some point. "We were able to replicate this behavior by scanning over 600 or so plug-ins. In the past, this limit in plug-in count could be worked around by creating a custom plug-in layout. It seems something has changed with this particular version of the plug-in manager that is causing this work-around to no longer work. We do have a recipe to reproduce this now though, so we have all the information we need to move on and get this resolved. In the meantime, the only work-around we have is to go to the Cakewalk Plug-ins Manager, go to VST Audio Effects section, select a handful of registered plug-ins (SHIFT + Left Click will select multiple), and then click the [Exclude Plug-in] button. If you can get the count below 600 the message should go away. We apologize for the inconvenience in the meantime. Best regards, Cakewalk Problem Tracker"

Are you using Firefox? Formatting and other editing and posting features (all the text edit buttons, quoting, message preview, etc.) are all broken with Firefox, so I have to open IE whenever I want to post here.

Yup you shouldn't be using the second most popular browser on the market here - be gone !

Use IE, at least it keeps your text formatting at the expense of having to wait 3 minutes for a form to post back.
(one day I hope they will upgrade this site to 3.9, at the moment it's on 3.5: http://www.aspplayground.net/download.aspx ).

For the record - most don't blame Firefox.  It's moving on to improvements, while this site is using older (and less compatible) software.

Strange for a software company to not be up to date, eh? LOL

When browsers loose compatibility with existing html and javascripts I would blame browser developers, not that every site would have to upgrade stuff:
- Well, now our browser is doing things differently - tough luck - upgrade your site.

If not compatible with newer html version or code I would blame browsers too.

What are you thinking?

I stopped upgrading Firefox and is still on v5 since they started with major version upgrades every second month. Something fishy going on in that community. And when things stopped working alltogether with v6 for people here I will never upgrade Firefox again - I'll switch browser.

I disagree :P
Me too ... especially since there is a free upgrade to this forum software that they could install that would fix all the incompatibility problems people are seeing ...
Cakewalk ia using a rather old version of our software (3.5). We have at
this moment version 3.9 which works perfectly with all current browsers and
they can upgrade to it free of charge.

My experience varies.  I've had speedy and practical support for one or two things, but I've also had total silence and no help whatsoever for another.

These are the facts...
It isn't the forums code's fault (originally), the suppliers would have originally introduced code to get around flaws with OLD browsers which now is being exposed in NEW browsers (now, after they've fixed their own code). So the code in these forums is (so) out of date, the forums code needs updating here (esp the editor). So really the fault of the webmaster who isn't keeping it's codebase up to date (Cakewalk).

What is more worrying is that if you don't update your website code often, you end up subjecting yourself to hack attacks, as old code would should be updated with security fixes (depending how savvy the supplier is). If it happens.... remember I told you so.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the kind words.  I'll def. pass them along to Ryan and Noel.

RE: the forum software and FF6 we are aware of the issues.  Unfortunatley it is not as simple as just updating to the latest version as we have made some custom changes and we are also looking into ways of incorporating the feedback we have received since the last big forum change.

Thx Willy.

I tried to thankthe person who was helping me directly but once they send a "we replicated the prob and will work on it " message you can no longer reply and communication is cut.

So I am a little unsure if this is to be fixed in a patch or not........

IE (8 and9) does this as well. Especially when pasting from notepad.

For some "reason" the line breaks are not respected. This has a lot to do with the insanity of HTML formatting.

I now try to always preview.

And often add extra line breaks to compensate.

And I have noticed a difference between the quick post, and the full version.
