Experience with Quadro NVS 420 /450?
Anyone tried the Quadro NVS 420 / 450 graphic cards? I have a quad graphic card now, but it is a bit too noisy (the fan has to be replaced...) so I'm probably replacing. Seen the NVS 420/450 going for about 120-180$ (for eBay) and wondered if anyone has one of them/tried one of them. The 450 are fanless, but I'm a bit worried GPU's will be too hot when fanless?

What about running a pair of dual-head passive cooled video cards?

I wont mind. What will that get me, compared to the NVS420/450? (besides a slot less...)? For the record, I dont game at all. So my Matrox 128mb quad card has been pretty "spot on" so far.

Yes, it will give me up to 4 monitors, passive cooled. But: the same does NVS450 :) So: why should I choose 2xdual cards vs 1xquad card? (ps: I'm not arguing with you, I just try why I should choose the one over the other) EDIT: and I already have 3 screens

☄ Helpful
So: why should I choose 2xdual cards vs 1xquad card? - Cost (You can get a pair of decent passive cooled dual-head video cards for under $100)
- Noise (Quad card is active cooled)

See the cost part :) About noise, the NVS450 is fanless. http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_quadro_nvs_450_us.html Is it any other difference on "active" and "passive" cooling? (sorry the nOOOb questions, but GPUs have never been my kind of thing ) What GPU would you recommend? (what do you prefer in our machines?) EDIT: BTW, your input is highly apreciated.

I can find, for example: - Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 512MB DDR3 - Gainward GeForce 210 512MB PhysX CUDA - HIS Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 - ASUS GeForce 210 512MB Silent PhysX CUDA - Gainward GeForce 8400GS 1GB PhysX CUDA - Sapphire Radeon HD 5450 1GB DDR3 - Gainward GeForce 210 1GB PhysX CUDA -ASUS GeForce 210 512MB Silent PhysX CUDA Actually, I'm only using 3 screens at the moment (I dont have space for the 4th one) so maybe one of these (or other) has a 3 screen output? I can see most of them has 3 connections, but I suppose they only can use 2 at a time?

Just to update, I've received my NVS450 quad GPU. Works nicely - plugged and played :) Overall my temps are not higher, and HWmonitor reads the NVS450 about 60c. I think my Matrox was about the same. Now I have 4x DP output (2560x1600) fanless operation. (just miss the 4x 30" 2560x1600 LEDs, the room for it and the money for it.... :D) And: Earlier I did have some GPU problems, though I did not know it. Ofthen when I minimized for example PODfarm windows, or Superior drummer at playback - the audio broke off. After I've got the NVS450 this is not happening any more. I though it was my audio setup but it seems it can be the underpowered Matrox card. (Windows experience reported 1 for both Areo and game graphics. Now it is about 4,5)
