A SONAR Plus Announcement
If you don’t know what SONAR Plus is, there’s no need to read on! You may have been wondering why it’s been quiet on the SONAR Plus front recently. Well, there's good news and bad news... First the good news. As you may know, I put a lot of work into SONAR Plus last year. It obviously made an impression on Cakewalk because, a few weeks ago, I was delighted when they got in touch and offered me a job! I happily accepted, and I’m soon to become a full time Baker! This is a fantastic opportunity to do some good from within, which is obviously preferable to ‘hacking’ from the outside. That leads me to the bad news. Now that I'm working full time with Cakewalk I won't have the resources to maintain SONAR Plus anymore, so with regret I’ve decided to discontinue support for it. It will, however, still be available for download as unsupported freeware. While there are no official plans to incorporate SONAR Plus features into SONAR, of course, maybe I can convince the team to sneak in a feature or two. To those of you who have come to rely on it, I can only hope you understand my reasons for making this decision. It wasn’t an easy one. I hope SONAR Plus made your life a little easier during its brief outing. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped me develop SONAR Plus. Keni , Stacy and many others who thoroughly tested it, Panu for generously hosting the SONAR Plus forum, and Cakewalk who had every right to shut me down but chose to turn a blind eye. Best wishes, Ben Ps. A few people were kind enough to make donations towards the upkeep of SONAR Plus. I’d like to offer them a full refund. When things calm down a bit, I’ll attempt to track them down. In the meantime, if you’re one of those people and you would like a refund, feel free to PM me.

Congratulations on the position. With your experience doing the Plus application you should be an asset for both Cakewalk and for users. Good Luck.

Congrats Ben! This is great news for us all... I know you're gonna be a big boon to the team and I'm very glad that I've been able to help all this happen... Plus is still working just fine and will (hopefully) continue to work in X1d.... We'll see... Now that "we" have an "inside man"... Here's hoping they let you put some of your ideas into practice very soon! Best always! Maybe you can get Panu onto the team too??? Keni

DUDE, THAT IS AWESOMMEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never used plus but i have followed it's use and development. The fact that your tinkering has landed you a job with cakewalk says a lot about the quality of your work and about Cakewalk's willingness to keep an open mind- grow- adapt. I am really happy to hear this news. If the Bakers ever want to develop an educational product for use in the music classroom (Reason tried it) with site licenses and whatnot- let me know. I am already using it that way (on the teacher end) and would love to consult on it's development. I'm currently working on my Masters in Instructional Technology and see this as an un-filled niche. But enough about me- CONGRATS! Now GET BAKING!
