Need help with NI Abbey Road 60's drummer and X1

Hey folks.

So I love the sound of the new Abbey Road 60's drums that NI has been kind enough to update. My problem is that I want to route the drums/cymbals to separate tracks. This is something that is easy to do with something like Slate 3.5 cause each drum is a separate instrument in the multi rack. The problem with Abbey Road drums is that the entire kit is an instrument.

I use the mixer section to assign track names to the drums (kick, snare, hat, etc). I then use the outputs dialogue to try to route them to tracks in Sonar. Sonar sees the names I assign the tracks and I have corresponding track names in Sonar.

Problem is...EVERY drum/cymbal/percussion piece comes out on the first stereo track which I happen to have called my kick. There seems to be nothing I can do to get this to work. I feel totally dumb and defeated by this problem. I am sure it is simple but I cannot get this to work.

If anyone is using this package and knows how to do this I would be so so happy. This whole thing is making me feel really really stupid. NO other drum package is this difficult to route for me :-(

Hi Ken,
The output select is a bit hidden. If you go to the mixer and then the settings tab for a particular mic you'll find an output select:

Keep in mind that the output selector will only show outputs that you've previously added, so if you don't see anything other than st.1 add a channel and reload Kontakt.

Good luck

Dean I owe you a virtual beer!!! That was it. Kontakt doesn't make it very straightforward but that was definitely my problem. I managed to crash Kontakt along the way of course when I initially had it create the maximum number of new ports without deleting old ones.

I now have the drums on different tracks in Sonar as I wanted. Much appreciated!

Well my fiance' is out this evening with the girls and I am blissfully alone in the studio drinking a non-virtual beer right now. If you were in the area I would gladly invite you by :-)

Hi Ken,
Glad to help. If you're ever in my neck of the woods I'll take you up on that beer. Heck, I'll even take you skiing first :)
