Melodyne in Sonar X1 Producer 64 Bit
Hi I wonder if anyone could help please I have installed Melodyne Editor trial version as a Plugin in Sonar it has installed to the correct VST folder and the scan picks it up. Normaly when I want an effect I right click in My Fx bin and select select from the Plugins there , but melodyne is not there to select. The guide Says Melodyne works as a track insert. Operation as a clip based effect or calling it up in the "Process" menu are not supported. That is what I am unsure of in Sonar am I doing it the wrong way? Would appreciate some help please Thank you

Melodyne Plugin needs to be defined as "Tempo based" in the Plugin Manager. Maybe Editor requires the same?
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

Did you install the 64-bit version of Melodyne?...also check your VST Instruments plugin menu and see if its listed there instead of with the effects. I have it installed and I know that it at least loads. Now actually being usable...that's another story. -e.B

if you have a custom plug-in menu, it may not show up when you right click.

Make sure the 32bit version installed in the 32bit vst folder and the 64bit version installed in the 64bit vst folder. Make sure you are using the default plugin folder that shows all the Sonar X1 plugs not just your custom folders. Make sure you set Melodyne as an exception in UAC settings for the first time you launch it. ....I've said this repeatedly before and I'll say it again. Celemony is a JOKE of a company when it comes to customer service and giving two pisses about their customers. Don't ever count on Melodyne functioning in a stable or efficient manner within Sonar X1. Crashes, not showing up, license manager freezing projects, the list is endless. Hopefully a V-Vocal update can make this a moot problem once and for all. You know sometimes when you go in a forum looking for a straight answer and you get everything BUT a useful. Yeah, they are one of those companies.

I guess the JOKE is on you. I never had Celemony crash in X1, very stable on my system. To the OP- I'd try posting or looking for help on their forum as well.

I have a lengthy exchange from their forum I can forward to you. I think you'll change your tune. It takes a lot for me to bad mouth a company, I'm generally pretty accommodating. PS I think your silly string needs some organization

Melodyne is the only thing that manages to crash X1 on my system - I feel like I have to tiptoe around while I'm using it - saving regularly etc. Unfortunately, I haven't found a better, more transparent vocal fixer. Fortunately, I am lucky enough to work with some decent vocalists so I don't have to use it too much...

I can right click and select Melodynne as a track plug in insert with out any issues. So far, I have not had it crash my system ever. I am at work, so I can not remember which folder it is in, but I do remember I always have a little trouble finding it. It does not show up on my system as its own plug in heading, but rather it is in one of the sub groups in my system.

Editor crashes: As a result of a problem report I (and no doubt others) submitted, Noel Borthwick confirmed on another thread here a few days ago that Melodyne has a resource leak when used as a plugin in Sonar. Cakewalk conveyed this to Celemony who agreed. At last! They are working on the fix; see the Celemony forum.

I've gotten better results from exporting the vocal clip and using Melodyne in standalone mode. Now I can see why.
i7-870 2.93Ghz, 16GB RAM, Radeon HD 5770 + 2 x DisplayLink w/ 4 x 22" screens, Intel SSD 80GB, Sonar X1-D Exp. - Problems? How's your latency? What processes are running? Driver crash?

Well Guys it turned up in a Synth plugin folder how the ---- it got installed there I dont know, I have moved it to the correct VST folder now in Plugin Manager. So far it seems stable enough with one slight crash which didnt matter as I was only training, but I agree with evryone regular saving is the key to staying sane, Thanks to all who helped take care TD
