Open up another instance on FM8 via the synth rack. Drag the midi onto that - see if you can hear it.

You must have some routing wrong or some set up wrong. The reason I suggested opening the synth rack and doing it that way is because it does the routing automatically and it's fairly foolproof. Can you hear anything? Open an audio track up and drag an audio loop onto the track. Any chance of a screenprint so we can see?

I opened a synth from the synth rack but still no sound.I dragged a loop on an audio track and it worked. The routing by default when I open a synth is in=omni out=the synth(on a midi track)then an audio track with the input=primary output of synthoutput=master.
    Thanks for your help

You said that you recorded the synth, so am I right to assume you heard it when recording it.

What setting does it have for playback in Sonar's audio options? It'll be under Preferences - Driver settings

Where you set up your soundcard driver settings in Sonar. Look at this post, where it has preferences - driver settings http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2518327 and see what you have.

    Stephen,
Your posting over the last few days appeared very trollish.  You have several threads (not just the ones I responded in) complaining about the same problems.

I apologize for being short with you, and calling you a troll.

I do not believe the forum is the best method for you to get help.

I again suggest that you contact CakeWalk support by phone.

    Kind regards!

    Kevo,

He's obviously a frustrated newbie, but come on... trollish?

You've spent almost as much time going from thread to thread calling him a troll as others have spent trying to help... That should tell you something right there.

    Stephenthemartyr,

You really need to calm down, because it's hard to decipher some of your posts... We're not standing behind you, so don't know your setup and what you're doing with it.  Try to keep that in mind when you post a problem in the future.

Also, it's considered good forum manners not to post half a dozen queries simulataneously -- even if you do have that many questions.  There are tons of "getting started" videos at the CW University (Link is at the top of the forum) and YouTube in general.  Have you familiarized yourself with the basics?

Believe it or not, just those videos can take you a long way.  And, once you've shown that you've made a good start on your own, folks are more likely to chime in and help you out.

BTW, I responded to one of your posts with some tweaking tips.  Hopefully, one of them is the magic bullet.
