Guitar Rig update

I have a quick Q re: Guitar Rig versions bundled with Sonar vs NI Guitar Rig new version releases. ( I also just posted this in Sonar Producer and Studio and was asked to move it, sorry for the dupe).
I see today from KVR or Rekkerd (one or the other) that Native Instruments has updated Guitar Rig to version 5.1.0.

The version (I'm using Sonar Producer 8.5.3) listed in my vst folder is 3.2.1.4 (Guitar Rig 3). Are we talking the same beast here? Is my version a Cakewalk "light" version or do I go ahead and update my Guitar Rig via NI to 5.1.0?

Also, I have purchased X1 but not downloaded and installed yet, that comes after I finish my current crop of projects. Does X1 contain the same  Guitar Rig beast / version as 8.5.3 or is it an upgrade / update?

Thanks for any insight on this.

You have GR3Le with 8.5. - You can't update to GR5. You would need to buy an upgrade. I think X1 has GR4Le.

Just because you have GR3 LE and can't upgrade to GR5 does not mean that you may not have updates to GR3 available with bug fixes to download.  Launch NI Service Center to see if updates are available.  Worth keeping what you have up to date.  If you already are aware of this - disregard.

Sonar X1 has GTRRig 4le but I upgraded to Guitar Rig 5 pro for like 100 bucks, i dont know if that just a special deal or they run that price all the time, but i feel the upgrade is worth it, i use it on everything, including the fxs one vocals, drums. all. the update that you were talking about, i just downloaded, i have not had much time to mess with it much but the GUI looks a little more sleek, and the favorites tab is updated, and you get a few more presets to mess with. its really worth the upgrade if your a guitar player.

bigsmoove23: Thanks for the addiitonal info, I loginned into NI and also saw the upgrade is still $99. That's good news!

Jind: also thanks as I wasn't aware of how to update GR within Sonar and that clears that up so a big thank you!
