AT2050? - March 31, 12 8:22 PM ( #1 )
I am just a hobbyist and when I bought Sonar X1, I also purchased other equipment to get me started. I only had a fixed budget but was able to get Sonar, Profire 610, cables, MXL low end mic set, m-audio monitors, etc... This was to get me started. However, now I want to record my acoustic guitar using the M/S recording technique but I do not have a mic with a figure 8 pattern.

I was looking at the MXL $90 figure 8 mic (R144) but I was concerned that the sensitivity is too low and my Profire may add too much noise when boosting? Also, I went to look at the R144 at GC but the salesperson pushed me towards the AT2050.

What do you all think of that mic?

I am not going to spend $$$ for an expensive mic at this point but I don't want to end up spending money one something I don't use.

I do want to close mic my guitar amp and the AT2050 seems to be able to handle the SPL for that application.

Do you all think the AT2050 would be a good add for me?

Thanks
