ToonTracks Superior Drummer 2.0 SDX Expansions...

$99.99 is quite the bargain. And I wouldn't be surprised if they can be had for less from the usual local resellers. I know I've been waiting for a sale to get my hands on the Roots combo. Just a heads-up for those interested.

Roots is the one I've been eyeing for a while now.  The sample tracks up at Toontrack sound really good.

    Not that either matters.

Oh wait, now that I have both Roots, I again own all Superior Kits as well as all but one EXZ (Number One Hits, don't care for it for some reason).

I know I'm just being impatient, but did anyone buy from audiodeluxe today and get your serial numbers yet?

Last time I did buy from them it only 2 hours to get the serial.

It has only been 3.5 hours but still......

Maybe their a bit swamped with sales from the $79.00 SDX kits.  I've seen these sales bring vendors to their knees before so it's a possibility there is a delay.  Hope you get it soon.

Bapu--it is my experience with audiodeluxe that they do NOT send serial numbers for the SDX expansions unless you tell them that that is only what you want; they ship SDX due to the size.  They only send serial number for the EZX expansions.  I know because I ordered NY Studios SDX a couple of months ago and waited and waited for the serial numbers.  After a couple of email exchanges they said that they do not do the serial number for electronic delivery option with SDX.

I've never ordered from Audiodeluxe, do they offer serial number only ordering?  When I upgraded from EZDrummer to Superior earlier this year, Florida Music Company sent me the Toontrack VSSD Box (a boxed set of all of Toontrack's installer discs for all the released EZX and SDX installers as well as the other drum related products) so in the future I would just require serial numbers for purchased products.

I made that purchase after Root's was released and it came with the installers for both the Stick kit and the Brush, Rods, & Mallets kits so no media would be required if I purchased it from them.

At this price I'm really tempted to buy Roots, possibly both libraries.

Wayne's correct (I see you've figured it out now) but SDX's get box shipped.  I don't know about the EZX's whether they are download or boxed.

there are several EZX's I don't have and am not really anxious about getting them.  there are a few SDX's I still don't have, either.  I would like to have them, but I've got higher spending priorities than those right now.

I don't have but wouldn't mind having (probably in order of preference):
    DFH
    Metal Machine
    MetalHeads
    Funkmasters
    Clausterphobic
(but I'm also not in a hurry to get them)

I don't really care about getting:
    #1 Hits
    Electronic

    SDX's I'd like to have
    Custom & Vintage
Roots (I don't have either package)

I wouldn't mind having Metal Foundry, I guess, but I doubt I'd use it much.

I bought one a while ago, Rock Songs it's called or something like that. Not bad, but it's basically songs split into theme, intro, verse, bridge etc, and a few variations.

I get more use of the ones bundled w/ the Classic Kit or the Vintage Rock and some others - these are often a bit more generic grooves, which IMHO is a good thing because you don't have to deal w/ punches and things that don't fit with what you have in mind.

I like simple when I'm writing.

    Ja.

I think they are worth it. In fact, the basis for these drums were from some of the purchased MIDI.

Depending on your skills to create a drum partition from scratch, I would recommend purchasing the "MIDI' component right away, but it does add approx. $30 USD to the purchase price, when you do decide to go for the SDX that is. If it makes you feel any better, I purchased the ROOTS midi when it came out as I knew I wouldn't be purchasing the SDXs right away. And need I tell you how much I s*ck at drum partitions. Didn't think so.

Addition: Oh and "Custom and Vintage" is a must IMHO.

I'm considering EZ Player Pro, maybe this'd help. Sometimes I really like the hat and kick in one pattern but the snare's a bit over the top and such.

Anyone has experience with it? Seem easier than to breakdown loops into your DAW and then merge them.

V'been working with it since I purchased SD2 a couple of years ago. It's very practical and straightforward, for example any kit piece can be included/excluded from the "variation" you're currently auditioning. It makes the process of picking pieces from various "variations" a simple and quick task. You can also use the built-in editor and when done, simply drag the completed drum partition into your project. The learning curve is reasonably easy and the interface is pretty intuitive. Although I do find the interface to be a tad small at a resolution of 1680 x 1050.

I certainly recommend it and it's a tool I use regularly.

I use EZPlayer Pro quite often.  It's worth it simply for the built in format conversion allowing you to use MIDI files formatted for most of the other common drum packages with each other.  I got it for free with a drum group buy from esoundz.com several years ago, and once again when I upgraded from EZDrummer to SD2.0 (it's included with SD2.0).  The ability to select individual instrument pieces from MIDI files is pretty cool too.  You can take the hi-hat from one pattern and combine it with the kick of another and so on and so on and then save the results to use elsewhere.  It's a very nice drum sequencer as well, you can use it to build your complete drum tracks if you want.

Thanks for the quick reply, guys. Seems it could fill the gap - there's one thing I'm not totally fond of in Logic and it's deep editing midi drums grooves. I guess I should be ok w/ my laptop's native resolution.

Audiodeluxe does do electronic delivery for the EZX's (by default I think).  If you buy the SDX expansions the default is box shipment and I could find no way to change that on their website ordering.  When I discussed this by phone with audiodeluxe for my purchased of NY Studios vol 2 they said that if I already had the installer cds and only wanted a serial number that they could do that, but that I would need to call in the order by phone and speak to them so that it does not automatically default to a shipment of the box.  I told them that I had left such instructions for serial number only in the little notes box but they had not read the notes; so the SDX CDs came by box shipment.  So, I have learned now how they work and to call if I only need a serial number for an SDX.  By the way my Roots SDX box shipped yesterday!

I own the Jazz midi pack and love it.  Morgen Agren is a great drummer with nice nuanced playing.  I was going to get the Roots midi pack last month because I figured it would cover my Morgen drumming needs until the Roots SDX expansions went on sale.  But with this unexpected sale, I just went on and bought the SDX and of course get (same) midi files included.  So, my expereince is that the midi packs are more than decent especially with Morgens creative drumming.  Some of the midi packs however are the same grooves as the ones included in their SDX counterparts, but some are not.  So you need to be carefull and figure out if you already have them in a SDX or EZX expansion.  For me, I found that the Jazz Midi pack is NOT the same as the one in the Jazz EZX, but that the Roots midi pack is the same as the midi files in the Roots SDX.
