A friend of mine is trying to edit some video/audio together where the audio was recorded using a Zoom H1 and the camera audio.

The Zoom recorded MP3. The camera recorded quicktime audio.

The camera audio is in sync with the video. But, the zoom audio drifts out of sync (with the camera audio and the video).

Is this a common occurence with MP3s?

Seems pretty bizarre.

It's not the mp3's fault. It's because the two devices run off of separate clocks, so there will be drift. This is why timecode and/or wordclock sync was invented, so that your devices will all be in sync.

It's not about mp3. I've heard zoom device generally does not produce stable clock.. same problem with the Zoom R16/24.

I was planning to buy a Zoom R24, but did not proceed after googling it..
