A Good Deal ?

Hi,
I have just got an email from IK Multimedia offering their reverb suite (a suite of four)
for $49.99, a good deal do you think ?  And what are these like compared to the Sonitus
reverb ? Are we in a different league here with these ?

Thanks
John

My personal opinion is that for $49 dollars CSR is a good deal, it will be better with the promised update to x64 IKMultimedia has been talking about, but it's a good reverb.

Some find the 4 separate modules a bit clunky as you have to know which module you want Room, Hall, Plate, Inverse, before you load it up and you can't dial in a setting and switch between algorithms to see how each sounds.

As to how it compares to Sonitus - I think CSR sounds very good, and each reverb has it's own things that make it a little different from each others so having a few choices is a nice luxury for some that want it.

As it is inevitable someone will bring it up, another similarly priced reverb you may want to look into is ValhallaRoom.  For $50 it's also a great reverb and is already x64.

I love this reverb it came with notation 3 for free. I would have happy to spend the $50.00. It is my go to reverb.

I downloaded the trial version to checkout.  Seems decent , especially for the price.  Considering buying the full version . I've been looking for a new reverb anyway.

I bought it for $50 during this sale as well. Yes it's a good quality reverb with plenty of tweakability.

I'm finding this tempting, particularly since CSR has been very favorably reviewed in the past and I need a (that is one) "go to" algorithmic reverb that I don't need to think much about.

    ...However...

This price really begs a comparison against the Valhalla Room that I'm also hearing a lot of chatter about.  Is there someone out there with both that would be willing to say one is hands down "better" than the other.  Or is there enough difference between them that makes having both actually make sense.

(Note that I'm past the point in life where "collecting" as much as I can, makes sense.  Having a very few, solid, stellar, tools, makes life a lot easier than a myriad of "pretty good" tools.)

I've been using Valhalla Room for a year now and saw the IK Multimedia offer.  I listened to their demos and wasn't impressed.  Based on the demos, I thought that Valhalla Room sounded smoother.. But again, just my opinion..!

    Peace!

I really like it a lot. I use it over the Sonitus reverb all the time.

I bought CSR when it was much more than the current $49 and still think it was a good buy then.
