Beatles Abby Road Medley performed LIVE in studio by "The Fab Faux"

The Fab Faux is a musical tribute band performing the works of The Beatles. The group was founded by Will Lee, bassist for The Late Show with David Letterman, and features Jimmy Vivino, bandleader for Conan. Other members include Rich Pagano, Frank Agnello, and Jack Petruzzelli. The band is committed to performing live what they feel would be an accurate reproduction of The Beatles' repetoire, often performing material The Beatles never played live.

I saw them this past October do the entire White Album (yes, including Revolution Number 9 with only a few "samples").

I already have tickets to see them this coming October where they will be doing Magical Mystery Tour and selected other songs.

They put on a great show. It's all about the music for them.

That was cool. Besides the great musicianship, you could see the importance of the tech, handing out the needed instruments, tuning up the guitars. If he was a little bit late, the soloist wouldn't have anything to play, or there would be letters asking "where were the bongos? That song has bongos in it. You suck!"

The string and horn players: I could see they were reading, but I wonder if they were familiar enough with the music to pretty much know when to come in? Had they ever heard the songs before?

Who did the score? Given Will Lee's (and maybe others's) pull in the industry, did someone call up George Martin or Apple and say, "hey, could you send over ther sheets for Abbey Road?" and it was done, or did somebody write them out by ear? <insert image of man with pencil in ear>
And what were they doing with Patti Smith's amp cabinet?

Can't talk correctly can you with someone who has perfect pitch? Stick it yourself. And by the way I am probably older than you also. It just did not make the Beatles in some places. There was another band doing a cover for some Beatles songs over in the song section. I think off hand they sounded a bit better.

    Hi,

I have to admit that when I saw this ... it was nice, and in the end, I even had a tear and remembered when I first heard this by myself.

But I think I would have enjoyed it all the same, if it had been the CHB playing this stuff!

Don't like the Beatles or Beatles cover bands? Then don't listen to,purchase, or follow them? Its a great big world... But respect the originals, and if done well, the tribute players. The Faux Four A bunch of professional musicians who are ENJOYING what they are doing, much more than the money and glory, and paying a tribute to icons of rock and roll.

oh, I did not mean to imply that they are bad. Maybe it was the choice of songs I heard. I just have reservations on who is going to go hear them "live" if it will be that much of an opportunity. As to not making any money with it and doing it just because of it being all tribute - I say "no", if any money will be made then it will be, and all of it costs to do in the first place. Perhaps they are rich, but then I doubt if anyone doing mainly anything anymore is not about the hope of making money because of it. Maybe it is because for the first five years after someone retires, you are not allowed to make much money at all. I just doubt if the people are going to flock to them as much as some people may think on this forum anyway in the end.

The bass and bass playing sounds incredible.

The vocals were a pleasure to hear... sweet.

The guitar tones were so good it was easy to just take them for granted.

    Thanks for the link.

It took five of them, but only four Beatles...

    Still very good though.

It's an interesting point about "tribute" or "cover" bands making money and whether people will want to go see them.  If this were Bach or Chopin the question would never arise, but being contempory music the first thought is "Why should I pay to see someone else playing it?"

When I finished watching last night I was left speechless.

It sounded great and It demonstrated the wonderful imagination of the original production team that created the original recordings as well as the incredible musicianship of a contemporary combo that can reproduce the sound of multi tracked layered compositions in a live performance.

It's jaw dropping when you step back and consider what's going on in this video.

    best regards,

But you are forgetting there WAS a "fifth Beatle". Billy Preston was often called that.
