Moving from X1 Studio to Producer Expanded

Hello fellow Cake-sters! I just took advantage of the $99.00 upgrade from Studio to Producer (and got Expanded to boot!) and am looking for some installation advice from the many sages on this forum! :)
(I purchased the download and boxed version for easier future installs)

So, I'm currently using X1 Studio on a Windows 7 - 64 bit machine and I have all of my project folders and work backed up to an external drive. My question is what and how is the best way to 'upgrade' to Producer Expanded (other than the provided installation instructions for the actual Producer software itself)?

Do I just need to do an Uninstall for X1 Studio from the Cakewalk Programs folder (or from Control Panel) and once uninstalled, begin the install for Producer from scratch? Will I need to do any registry edits to remove any files that might still be remaining and 'lingering' around the registry (serial #'s / license keys)? I'll be doing the crossover from Studio to Producer Expanded on my laptop first then I'll be doing the install on my primary desktop audio PC.

After the uninstall, should I do a reboot first and THEN begin the installation process? I want the crossover / install to Producer Expanded to go as smooth as possible and I greatly appreciate all feedback and tips from anyone having done this or knowledgable about doing it. If it's just a matter of uninstalling Studio and then installing Producer then I'm good to go but I wanted to check with you kind folks first if perhaps anyone has anything additional to offer to make this a smooth transition!

Thanks in advance to all who reply!

Patrick

**EDIT**

I'm searching the forum for any related articles and my apologies up front if I missed something!

You need not uninstall Studio. Produce will install in its own directory.

Did you buy the Production suite or X1 + Expanded separately?

If it's the latter, be aware of the sequence in which you need to install:

X1 > X1c > Expanded > X1d

BTW, John is totally right, there's absolutely no need to uninstall anything.

Thanks to both John and Bristol! I'm glad to hear that the install will be pretty straight forward.

And BJ, I did purchase Producer and Expanded separately so thank you for the valuable information on the correct steps for the install.

I gotta tell 'ya, I was a little nervous while beginning the installation of X1 Producer (Expanded) from the downloaded files (18 total in all and over an hour to install) but it went as smooth as silk! Once the install was complete, I was literally recording in a matter of minutes (And I can't stop messing with the Pro Channel - I LOVE IT!!!).

I did the install as instructed - X1 Producer / X1C Patch / Producer Expanded / X1D Patch and, as I haven't (as of yet) had any crashes or bugs pop up, I am one happy camper!

It was, pardon the pun, a piece of CAKE!!  :)

Excellent advice and one sometimes learned the hard way! I'll create one tonight.

Thanks Bristol!

If you love the PC as I do you'll also want the add on modules too. They are great! I am talking about the CW ones.

And have fun!

John,

I'm actually browsing the Cake store now salivating at which add-ons to get first! (And I'm sure I'll end up getting them all anyway) I'm just mad at myself for not getting them during the spring sale (the ones marked down to $19.99). Oh well...!

And thanks for the advice! :)
