Komplete 8 Upgrade (not ultimate) being "phased out"??
-

( #1 )
I've been thinking of going ahead and doing the "regular" Komplete 8 upgrade (I'm currently on the latest version 7). As I've been looking around the web I see it's "no longer available", "out of stock", or not even listed at many places. Got any info on this???

I would not put it past them to calculate (with precision) exactly how many units they will sell in 8 months and produce exactly that amount.

Yup...I'm sure it's coming in a month or two (as has been their pattern). That's why I was hoping I could get a deal on 8 regular since it's being discontinued. There's really not much in 8 Ultimate I want or need...unless they throw in the new Klavins piano. But it seems certain I'll need to upgrade to Kontakt 5 and if I'm going to do that I'm just looking for the most bang for the buck route.

That's a good point. They probably are only going to add content for the next bundle.

Their 50% summer sale should be imminent(July?). Best Buy should have it in stock. Their music store venture was a bust.

Well, all the upgrades are still available from NI directly. Seem more likely that they are phasing out or reducing the upgrade offers from select "middlemen".
JD Sonar X2a Prod, Win7 x64, i7 2600K, Intel DZ68DB Mobo, 16GB DDR3 Ram, 3 x WD 1TB Caviar drives, SIIG PCIe FW card, TC Electronic Konnekt 24D, Presonus Firestudio Mobile, My lucky hat.

I have been waiting on NI to make the big sales right prior to Komplete9. I don't really need anything, but would like to have Kontakt5, GR5 and maybe a few other of the Kontakt instruments, but have been fine at just waiting for the liquidation of K8 that would normally take place a few months prior to the announcement of K9. Let us know if you find it for a bargain.

Well, I got the Komplete 8 upgrade (regular) for $175 today at my local GC...they had two left. I'll keep ya posted as to how that goes. One question I have for anyone else who upgraded their Komplete 7 to 8...do I just need to load in the stuff that's updating or I don't already have (I sincerely hope) or do I have install the whole dang thang again????

If I'm not mistaken (yes, it's been known to happen), with one of the upgrades the Kontakt sample libraries were upscaled to higher bit resolutions. You didn't need to reinstall new version of the old samples, but there was a good reason to do so. It does take a while to install the lot, but really, it's just mind-numbing repetive feeding disks into your machine. Mix a batch of margerittas prior to the install (but don't try to authorize the new stuff until the next day).

dmbaer but really, it's just mind-numbing repetive feeding disks into your machine. Unless you bought the Ultimate (came on a USB drive). Start and forget. That was just about the easiest install I ever did for anything nearing that volume of data. I hope more companies start going that route. Two versions later and you have a spare USB drive.

yorolpal Well, I got the Komplete 8 upgrade (regular) for $175 today at my local GC...they had two left. I'll keep ya posted as to how that goes. Hey yorolpal: I have a question about your new Komplete8 and specifically about GR5. Since you (and I and others down here in this software forum) are big fans of Scuffham S-Gear, how does the new GR5 compare since it now comes with Redwirez cabs in the Control Room Pro component? I would think that this is a big improvement for GR5 given it more complexity and character in the cabs. Does this new Redwirez cab feature help the blues, clean, overdriven type tones? Not really interested in the metal stuff, because GR already did that great. When you get a chance, let us know if this Redwirez addition helped GR shine on a little more. I am trying to decide if I should just get Kontakt5 or if for that great price of $175, it is worth it to get Komplete8 with Gr5. Gr5 is probably the only other instrument in K8 that interests me --I already have Komplete7. Cecelius2

Actually I'm very impressed with the new GR5. It is much improved. Overall I'm happy with what my $175 got me. Now for that Klavins piano...it is really somethin! That's what my voucher is for.
