Blank ProChannel

All of a sudden, when I insert a new audio channel, the ProChannel is completely blank - no EQ, nothing.

If I start a new project from normal template, the audio track has the default modules in place, but when I insert a new audio track, nothing.

I can insert any module, EQ etc, so it's not disastrous, but I'd just like to know why Sonar would suddenly do this.

Any ideas?

It's a bug but a good one because it allowed me to make ProChannel presets without the EQ module.

Thanks for replying, at least I know it's not just me.

Any idea why it would suddenly start doing it? It's not done this for the eight months I've been running X1, just started yesterday.

I wonder what triggered it.

Thanks,

Jonathan.

Have you made any changes to your system recently?

It is probably next to impossible reproduce because it's so rare. I doubt it's somehow project specific thing and not an system issue.

Can't think of any change other than downloading one of the fetching wallpapers from here.

Installed CL a month and a bit ago.  Updated to Guitar Rig 5 a week ago.  Was still working normally after those, though.

My system has been incredibly stable since X1d - no crashes at all for months and months.  Has started crashing more frequently over last month or so.  Only change was CL.  Not saying that's what caused it, but odd behavior started about the same time.

Of course, also suffer the infernal Windows updates, but none occurred just before the Blank ProChannel thing.

Again, thanks for your input,

Jonathan.

Stranger things now going on.  Still blank ProChannel when inserting Audio Track in any project.

Last night added CL to a track and then tried to delete it whilst the track was playing.  CRASH.

Started Sonar again and similar CRASH.  Then added CL for third time and there was no output from it.  Input meter was registering, but output meter was dead and no sound.

Any ideas, please, anyone.  Should I be thinking of re-installing?  What sort of thing might have caused this?

I would like to have a "blank" Pro Channel...

That way I can use my other PC EQ's and Modules if need be...

I know I can do it now just by turning the QC off....
but it would use less resources and memory if
I could just load whatever I wanted in the PC...

But that's just me...

I'm not sure you'd like the crashes, though...

this might be a good time for some hardware diagnostics?  This isn't behaving like a software problem at the root.  Maybe look at disk space/fragmentation?

Have you done a VST rescan with all options enabled?

This happens to me too. It must be normal. They are titled "Untitled". Just load a preset like the default or whatever.

Empty PC strips can also occur when loading a project created in a previous version of Sonar where no PC has gone before.

Thank you everyone for your time and input.  I'm always grateful.

@Michael5 - 1.27TB disc space left.  Can you suggest any other hardware, please, and how I can check it?

@stevec - tried that, but still the same.

@soens - this didn't use to happen, only started a couple of days ago, so something must have changed.

The blank PC is not a problem, I can insert any module, it is just odd that every track used to load with the default modules (PC76, EQ & TubeSat) and now they load blank.  Being the inquisitive type Id just like to know why it has started doing this.

Thanks again.

It's a bug but a good one because it allowed me to make ProChannel presets without the EQ module.

Exactly Panup,Thank You too,I use it often[the empty preset],however if I save a project with empty,it will reopen nearly full,so I only use it when working, but I dig it,cause I like the option of not having the EQ always there.

Can't say for sure but I think it started with the D patch or Expanded D patch.

Mine remains empty until I load something in. I like it that way.

Yeah, like a 16-bit game system... Nothing in it until a cartridge is inserted.
